I had no idea that Thaddeus Stevens had a football team. I looked at the school’s website and their schedule is a weird mix of JUCOs, another trade school, a trio of shady prep schools, and apparently Albright College. JV does not count toward eligibility. They can even practice with varsity. But most schools have dropped them because the expense & time needed to run a JV wasn't worth having guys in house. Few stuck around and its essentially running a second team without any revenue. Some privates do but they're a financial mess.
It's pretty rare anymore. The service academies do JV through "prep schools" for kids they recruit who need remedial academic work. I don't think the latest case (Ship recruit) fits the bill, but most service academy transfers to the PSAC were farmed out to the prep schools because they weren't truly qualified for the elite academic standard of the service academies.Comment
