SVC can't compete in the PAC, they will get annihilated in the PSAC.

That's neither here nor there.

The guy running the athletic department there now believes they have massive potential athletically beyond NCAA Division 3. I don't, but I'm not in charge. I have no clue what their funding looks like for athletics. But this has been in motion for a while apparently and SVC desperately wants it.

I still hope it doesn't happen. I don't think it's good for the league.

I'll just have to say to trust me as I don't feel that it will help future opponents to divulge their names. And for the most part, I don't think that recently it's not the PSAC, but other conference members. I understand why some competitive programs may not want to schedule a tougher opponent as it may result in a PO berth. Although I think many of us can show how scheduling a competitive opponent hasn't hurt a program. But there are institutions that understand their minimal PO chances and they still won't schedule.

Its a tough spot for the GLIAC, GSC and even the LSC (PNW schools) when it comes to out of conference scheduling. I was not a fan of how all the schools left the GLIAC to form the GMAC. I wish you guys had 2 more football playing schools to help. I do know some PSAC schools have played the GLIAC recently, and even ESU went to Ferris State not long ago. Sometimes geography becomes a hassle with few resources.

I agree 100%. I'm not saying their friends are lying, but I doubt its any more than an internal wish. St Vincent has some financial challenges - I truly don't believe they have the capacity to start budgeting in scholarship athletics.

Mine is most certainly not. The story has been the same since November. Their athletic director is friends with Jim Clements and Clements has been a strong advocate for SVC joining the league. I agree they would have challenges athletically and financially. I hope it does not happen.

If what my friend told me is accurate, the 2nd school wanting to join is Lackawanna.

Yeah, but as much as I like Jim Clements, he has about as much power in the PSAC as any other head coach. The presidents at the schools are the voting delegates and they decide in consultation with the Athletic Directors. St. Vincent is small, with small finances, and no history of athletic success. They don't improve anything other than filling a hole. They're the epitome of D3 athletics - and that's a compliment to them.

That is correct. I know they applied. They have a lot of money and continue to improve. 25 years ago they were only a JUCO, and now they are transitioning to 4 year programs. built up many dorms over the last 5 years too. They would have to upgrade their facilites though, particulary football (which I know is what this board is based off). Basketbll/wresting would be fine. They do have a lot of money as they fly their football team around the country numerous times a year for games. Been to Utah, Georgia, and the midwest recently.

You say this as though IUP would remain in the PSAC West. At some point, they would probably need to re-evaluate how the league is structured. I believe IUP is the easternmost team in the PSAC West. Just some food for thought.

IUP is in the West no matter how you look at it. The conference with fewer teams is the West, so IUP would not move to the East under any circumstances. Even if the school added is in the East, LHU and Ship would move back to the West, where they both were at one time.

I personally think the PSAC has too many teams already. They need less, not more. But my point is that if they continue to add, they'll eventually look at how things are laid out.

I'm not asking this in a tongue in cheek manner whatsoever, but who is a better fit? You have higher education experience and seem to know the financial situations at most of these schools. I don't know the financial situation of Frostburg State or Lackawanna or whoever was a potential candidate. If you believe every school ever mentioned for expansion is a bad fit because they don't have money, who would you say is a good fit? I'm genuinely curious. I don't think the league should be expanding, but they clearly want to do so. Who would be better candidates?

No offense back, but I know for a fact what they have and what they can offer. I can’t compare them to what St. Vincent might be able to offer, but I do know what they have. I don’t know where you’re getting your information from or if it is from somewhere online, but mine is from firsthand.

Agreed, and Lock Haven being pulled away from their sister schools in the Commonwealth triad is also tough to imagine. Maybe they go to a different format like a Pod system of 4 schools in each mini division or something.

I understand why you say that but, to me, it's not ridiculous. If it's that mutually important, they could schedule it as the season opening game, couldn't they?
