I just got suckered into it because i was sick of the emails and the letters....but I am considering this my donation for the next two years.....

I hope you told Jennifer Dunsmore '98 your coin was earmarked for Tort Ball.

By the looks of it, Tort Ball needs a whole lot of money -- in a hurry.

A lot of Gannon posts ended up in my social feeds in the last week and I noticed how old their basketball crowd is. Reminded me of how you've characterized the IUP football crowd.

I’m kinda pissed I said yes because you get some stupid alumni book and some IUP 150 swag.

I found it a bit deceiving as to why they needed to verify your information.

Oh that's a third party thing. They confirm your contact info and then they add on a sales pitch. IUP pays the company for the updated info and gets a cut of the book sale. Most if not all of the PASSHE schools are doing that right now.

Addresses and land lines are public info. Cell numbers (which for many is the only phone number) and email addresses must be obtained voluntarily - or pay a company who sells our info to businesses. They also want to have our employment info to track successful alumni. So its a quasi-goodwill gesture to stoke IUP pride but also make sure their alumni database is up to date.

That should be known upfront in these emails.

They make it sound like you will ge out of the alumni records.

A pro may have got 3x or more out of you.

She asked if I was willing to leave the school money when I die.

i told her I plan to spend every cent and if I outlive my money become a burden to society.

100%. That’s why I ignore those, although they are annoying. They had my email address to send me those messages so in other words, they know where to find me. This is a sophomoric approach to fundraising more typical of smaller budget non-profits. The next step will be running basket raffles in local fire halls. I’ve mentioned challenges I’ve had with the development office at IUP before and I’m not going to be a dead horse. It might not be unique though as other schools probably perform similarly.

                            • I figured it out, everyone. I upset folks at IUP because I never celebrated Indiana University of Pennsylvania Appreciation Month in November.
