I might enroll at Livingston and walk on. I like my chances for some playing time. Not sure about my eligibility but the fact I'm old, slow, and fragile will probably hamper me more than anything. Still, statically I like my odds there.

A great start would be having a diversified coaching staff at WSSU. Look around, it's working pretty well for other successful winning programs.

Ok, Eagle74, I'll bite. What do you mean, "a diversified coaching staff?" Over the years, in this forum, you've injected "race" in suttle and overt ways as it specifically pertains to HBCUs. So I'm curious, explain? Do you mean more "white" coaches?

WSSU has had Jay Mai, Ryan McManus, Earl Harrelson and Marcus Pearson. Only Coach Earl is currently on staff a serves as the assistant recruiting coordinator. He’s been on staff for 14 years. Ryan McManus was co oc as well as jay mai.

I have noticed the same thing.
Now Ealge74 is suggesting NC A&T's Ron Mattes.
AT&T finished 2-10, 1-11 last year with only win coming against WSSU in OT and 1-10 season before that.
I am curious myself. Would that suggestion be a good fit or just "diversified"?

He transferred there but did not play and sat the season out.

So, with that much interest this will be an intense hiring process. What i was told is that the coaching selection will be announced the first week no later than the second week of December. The AD search is slated to be filled in January 2026. Rumor mill also says that Dylan Lee (QB) told teammates that he could return depending on who was chosen as HC. Not sure if that's true, but I'll hold out hope!
Yes, you heard right. I was told that same thing about Dylan from a very reliable source. The same source also told me that Kaleb Washington said that is Lee came back, he would too.

That would be a no. LOL The 2-10, 1-11 would scare me away from that alone.

Diversification comes with many many options, not just black and white. Simply review the more successful programs at all levels, and you may start to understand. However if you feel uncomfortable with having a diverse coaching staff, I understand.

By the way and to be clear, if there were a change with the baseball coaching staff, I would be making the same suggestion.

I wish WSSU (originally known as Slater Industrial Academy) the very best, and I hope they end up with the coaching staff they deserve.

I hope you have a Happy Holiday Season.

I don't understand the comment on diversity - can you explain what type of diversity specifically you think WSSU needs (instead of being cryptic)?

This is very simple. A small bit of research would show the word diversity is derived from the term diverse and covers a very broad range of options. Those could include philosophies, backgrounds, cultures, education, experience, economic backgrounds, age, physical conditions including handicaps, genders, just to name a few. Not really sure which option you're looking for, but I hope this helps.
