The weather forecast for Saturday's homecoming game at West Florida calls for sunny skies and temps in the 70's for the 4 pm kickoff at Penn Air field. The Argos have won all of the previous meetings, but most of the games have been competitive and close, including an overtime thriller at Blue Wahoo in 2019. This year's game matches up the top two running offenses in the GSC and the game should be a quick one with the running clock.

The Argos have the #1 rushing defense and the last place pass defense in the GSC with the Chocs defense at #5 for both passing and rushing. The Argos score 20 more points than they give up and the Chocs are even on points scored and allowed. The Chocs hold the ball 5 minutes more than the Argos and are plus 20 yards in penalties with the Argos even on the yellow flags. The Argos total offense is only 50 yards more than the Chocs and the Chocs give up 50 more total yards on defense.

The Argos have a slight advantage in the kicking and return games and it was surprising to me that the Chocs kick so few and make few FG. The Argos have more picks, sacks and protect the QB better and the teams are fairly even on first downs and third and fourth down conversions on both sides of the ball.

The most critical stat in this series and the outcomes of the prior games has been the turnover ratio. The Argos series lead in the turnovers (6 given up to 13 given up by Chocs) has ultimately decided many of the prior games including a 99 yard tipped pass pick six by the Argos when the Chocs were about to tie it up with less than a minute to go in the 2017 game. The 2022 Chocs come into this year's game at -7 on turnovers and the 2022 Argos are -2 themselves. Who hangs onto the ball could well determine the outcome of this year's game.

The Chocs interestingly have more WR on their roster than any other GSC team and I don't know if that means anything in their approach to this game. The Argos will pass more than the Chocs and the Chocs should be ready to defend the Argo's running QB given that they practice against it every day against their own QB.The Argos have the size and depth to clog up the middle on the run game and the success of the Chocs offense will likely be decided by the success or lack thereof of the Argo edge LB and DB and they have a lot of the fast hybrid LB/DB types on their roster. The Argos defense also has more practice time against their own running QB, which should help in their defending against the Chocs offense. I don't see the Chocs passing enough to exploit any coverage weaknesses in the Argo secondary and a clean game with no turnovers favors the Argos balanced offensive attack and best in conference run defense. However, the history of this series is lots of turnovers by the Chocs and the Chocs come into the game deep in the minus side on the turnover ratio. Argos by 14.

    Interesting info
Every GSC game is a clean slate.
UWF is no doubt for real.
MC is not the MC of old (or even of September) they have found their nitche and this game should be a great one.

Interesting game. Can WF stop MC running game. If they can, they win. If not, they lose.

They sure do, and he has the most rested throwing arm in the league.

The GSC IS ALWAYS FUN.....when you're team is 7-0
