Doesn't bother me, I'm not a Valdosta fan. Just seemed like a very silly hire for such a great program.

In other news, McNeese State is 1-6. Their only win is against Miss College.

I've been watching a similar movie play out for six years now. If there are red flags at the beginning of hire, believe them!!

UNA went to the D2 title game in 2016 and Coach Wallace retired after. They walked down the hall and handed the keys to his assistant without much of a real applicant search.

He went 5-5 in D2 our last season and we (myself included) gave him excuses like "rebuilding" and having to play a WR at QB by the end of the year due to injuries.

Then, there was the 7-3 hybrid schedule in the first season of the FCS transition and folks felt pretty good. Then, was the COVID excuse that we played 3 FBS and 1 FCS and kept that game close with Jax State in 2020. Then, there was last season when they (not me) gave a whole laundry list of excuses including how the transition and COVID and this and that.

Now, he sits at 1-6 so far this season and we still have folks on our message board trying to provide excuses for him. "But, we led with 10 seconds to go last week at EKU and only lost by 3!" "But, we took (a very mediocre) Kennesaw State to OT!" But, but, but.....

NO! Y'all already see the red flags and they are waving bigger than a fourth of July parade!

How can a Defensive specialist come to town and have such a terrible defense? With VSU recruits/players. Y'all, no, this ain't right and most of y'all see it already.

Don't make the mistake UNA has made. Thank goodness we have a new AD this year!!

Give this man some grace, y'all, but do not let up on your passion and expectations. You will regret it in a few years if you do.
I agree. "Hire slow, but fire fast" when a wrong hire is made. I don't think that it'll happen here, but my intuition tells me that we will follow North Alabama into oblivion if he stays.

Yep. And our 'brilliant' out-going AD gave this losing coach an extension!! I'm livid.

If UNA doesn't fire him in three weeks, they are idiots. Even with 2 years left on the contract.

VSU needs to find the money, pay the man, and move on. Stat!

I by no means am I trying to keep your coach there at VSU, although I am enjoying any year my tigers can beat VSU and it seems only in down years when we can do that, but I digress. You speak of improvement. First loss was to 8-0 VA Union by 5, next loss was to DSU, who is also undefeated. Then you lost by 3 to my UWA tigers and they have been hot and cold all season on offense. You lost by 9 to Norte Dame and Lou Holtz and Tony Rice of D2(MC) which is always hard to beat. Ask UWG and soon ask UWA. UWG who beat y’all bad, well they are probably going to make the playoffs. I think it’s maybe a slight drop off in talent on this team, perhaps new schemes on D are perhaps difficult, idk, but it’s hard to improve when you keep playing tough teams week in and week out IF your talent level on D is lower then past years. You got to have you some leaders on a good or great D. It may have been Gaskins, but not anymore. I think it’ll be close at NGU with even a W there and same with Shorter perhaps. A big L to UWF though. That will put you at 5-5, not terrible for first year. Right? I mean I get it, for titletown fans like you all, of course it’s disheartening, but haven’t most VSU fans stated you trust your admin leadership when it comes to football? I think y’all should give him one more year and look for some improvement. If it looks worse, then maybe he shouldn’t get his 3rd year.

Well said. It is the GSC. We, as two former columnists here, know that very well. A 5-6 year isn't the end of the world, but I think getting walloped by Dean and crew in Carrollton is just a lot to take in for Blazer Nation, especially after the 39-point loss at DSU early on started this losing streak. If the Blazers can pull off a win at NGU, then maybe things will cool off a bit. Sorry Coach Jack, this ain't the RMAC! haha. Tough sleddin' around here for everyone in certain years.

So in comparison of the Game Day program for Keiser to the Football roster posted online today- 3 of the 4 “starting Linebackers” are not listed. A 4th player that is missing wasn’t listed on the original 2 deep chart. I don’t know if they quit, or were part of the group who lost academic eligibility. Gaskins (a Captain, Defensive player of game a few times and impact player all around) then I also didn’t see #23- Robins, #29- Riley, or #35 Carpenter. I also don’t know when those other guys dropped off, so by no means am I trying to imply it’s all related… But I would conclude that the already chaotic defense is scrambling to prepare “next man up” and based on the interviews I’ve heard from Jackson he has taken a closer look at how they are preparing and wants to win just as much as anyone. It’s tough, no doubt. But with such a long term fan base, if you’re expecting the team and coaches to dig deep and put a better product on the field, I would think this is the time the players need support from us more than ever. To encourage them to not give up and to work through adversity. Otherwise, why shouldn’t they want to quit or transfer if no one believes in them anymore because a few games they thought they may win based off historical reputation didn’t go their way? If games were all predetermined- there would be no reason to show up and play each week.

                Just my opinion.

You’re right. Sure, two were in OT, we finally have a rushing game, etc. But no, after 4-7 last year, it was beyond time!

Now, the pressure is on our young new AD to make the right hire. We have several former players that are now FBS Assistants and former coaches that could toss their hat in the ring. But he’s from the MIAA and worked for the Kansas City Chiefs before UNA. So, who knows what direction he’ll go.
