Companies have the luxury of dumping a line of business because it isn't profitable or choose to streamline their offerings to serve just one sector of the population. Government agencies do not have this option. This is a good thing. Imagine if Apple ran the government. Fire and Police departments would only answer calls to the homes of twenty-something hipsters, we'd have to use iTunes to file our taxes, and all legal disputes would be resolved at the Genius Bar. Try closing a local, little used fire station to save a few bucks. Outraged neighbors of all political stripes would storm the city council in protest.
    It would be horrible.
    This post is a masterpiece.

I just want to say - four year institutions, especially D2 institutions, have been asleep at the wheel for online curriculum.

"Oh they offer online classes" - that's not what I'm talking about.

Fully online degree programs allow for spreading outside of your geographic footprint, while keeping your on-campus presence. The pushback is always "but it'll ruin on campus"

It reminds me of tech companies so worried about disrupting their main product..... that they never innovate, so they become stagnant.

Adapt. If you build it, they'll come.

Online students do not pay activity fees. Many athletic departments depend on these fees to help their budgets.

There are six Georgia colleges that offer Web BSIT, the bachelor degree in information technology that can be earned entirely online. West Georgia is not one of them and it rankles me to no end.

I have no idea what that sentence even means. Regardless, the only Dickey I liked was Dallas.
