More and more employers these days are looking more at the degrees as opposed to where they were obtained, unless it was one of the more prestigious school with very high standards, to which in the most part (I hate to admit) do not pertain to this post or site. Just the way things are headed, it's just the COVID-19 situation accelerated it.
Think about on a football field - you think you are going to replace all those sideline coaches with online instruction? No. And while the learning process is really under the control of the student, the basic problem with online only instruction is it is susceptible to failure for a number of reasons: motivation, misunderstanding, lack of guidance. It is those things a good instructor does - and it is a heck of a lot easier to do in person than online. So while you will get some bleed off, it will not be for long due to the coronavirus, and then some of it will come back.

I mean online instruction has been available for closing in on 25 years now (including complete degrees). And yet it is still a small fraction of education.

Clearly, the latest trends show on-line degrees offered through high quality and well known D1 institutions in this region of the country are booming and will be much larger this coming Fall. The earned degrees state the name of the University without any mention of on-line involvement. Many D2 schools in this region are holding off making or announcing cuts until the actual Fall enrollment numbers are calculated, and some could end up being pretty substantial. So.....don't be too surprised.
