Anything about how this would impact seating within the stadium itself? Will we have to sit in groups based on who we came in with or is it sit anywhere you want once you enter the gates? I'm also wondering what the school would consider half attendance to be; I've heard that Moretz can seat anywhere from 8,500 to over 11,000. If this is the plan they are going with it will be interesting to see what they cap the attendance numbers at.

From what I understand, the new stands will have a much lower seating capacity than the ones which were tore down.

"Much lower"? I highly doubt that. Why would you decrease the size of the stadium size when you have the sort of momentum that LR football has.

The designer's rendition shows a stadium around a third smaller. Makes sense if you average around 5,750 you really don't need 8,500 - 11,000 seats. You can always bring in extra stands when you play CN;)

Haven't heard anything about a number being set in stone, that probably won't come until later. I'd assume standard social distancing rules I suppose.

The new stadium is slightly smaller, but I'm not sure if it will be up by the start of next year, its possible it could be 2021 before that happens.

I didn't realize LR was building a new stadium. Honestly, I thought what they had was pretty cool and unique. I'm sure the new one will be awesome as well. I enjoyed Hickory very much. So they aren't just putting in new seats or something, it's brand new?

From the local Hickory, NC paper:

The seating on the home side of Lenoir-Rhyne University's football stadium will be demolished due to issues of structural integrity, according to a press release from the university. The seating will be replaced with temporary bleachers for the 2019 season.

The university did note permanent seating should be in place for the 2020 season.

The issue with the stadium came to light when the university contracted Taylor and Viola Structural Engineers of Hickory to review the stadium. The firm identified issues of structural integrity that needed to be addressed immediately, according to the release.

Jeremy Zalacca, assistant athletic director for athletic communications at Lenoir-Rhyne, said the structural issues were primarily due to the age of the seating.

The university last updated their stadium seating in 1965 as part of a large renovation project, according to Zalacca.

New stands on the home side. The old stands were way outdated with lots of cracks in concrete. Hopefully they will also update the restrooms (with soap and paper towels dispensers etc) and the concession stand;)

With the Carolina's COVID-19 numbers still rapidly going up, they may not need their stadium this year. I wonder how many parents are actually going to be in favor of letting their sons share a dorm, workout with others in a weight room / or field, dine with others, attend classes with others, while playing a sport for the entertainment of others. There's absolutely no social distancing in practicing or playing football.

LOL, before you get to excided, there have been different renditions presented, with one being a much more economical plan which isn't nearly as impressive. With recent deveIopments going to be interesting to see which plan is actually implemented.

Just stating the facts, which appear to be difficult to either comprehend or to fully accept for a few. Just don't be to upset if your prefered rendering turns out to be much different than what's actually built. The new stands were suppose to be ready for this upcoming season. Does anyone have any updated pictures of what's been constructed so far? We should be able to see pretty soon which direction they've decided to go. Either way, I'm glad to see that there's going to be an update from what was there.

Reminds me a little of a friend of mine telling everyone that he was going to buy a new Mustang GT, and came back with a used Ford Escort, and then trying to justify, saying "well they're both made by Ford".
