Congratulations on a very good year Newberry.

The CIAA has been getting progressively better and better over the past 5 or so years.

Just like every conference, annually there are weak sisters which are part of the mix. This year's examples in the region are Shorter and to some extent Mississippi College in the GSC, both Limestone and Carlson Newman in the SAC, Lincoln, Livingston and St Augs in the CIAA, and Clark Atlanta, and Central State of the SIAC.

However, with the CIAA, the top level appears to be getting stronger and stronger in recent history. It wasn't all that long ago that teams from other conferences would schedule different CIAA teams to help pad their D2 win totals. Those pretty much 'guaranteed' wins are now far from guaranteed. (just ask 8-3 Mars Hill)

Also, as a new program, the very young Barton team (which prior to the season I'm sure some teams had chalked up as an automatic W) surprised several teams this year, and should be even stronger next year.

On a side note, recent rumblings have me more confident that we will see the emergence of Conference Carolinas Football within the next few years. That's going to be interesting.
