Since there doesn't seem to be a lot of traffic to the basketball side of the forum, I'll post this here.

These are the men's and women's SAC basketball standings as of this moment. Most everyone has 2-3 games left in the regular season. And unless I am mistaken, the SAC is going back to the 8 team conference tournament and not the expanded one they had last year or the year before.

Yes, the SAC is going back to an 8 team field for this year. The Limestone Women clinched a berth in the tourney with last nite's win at Coker according to the game article on the school's athletics website.

Thanks man. Wouldn't mind a few threads about lax and baseball here for the spring season. LR baseball actually looks really good this year!

I'll do a baseball and maybe softball one for sure. Lax might be a tad harder for me to keep up with. C-N doesn't have it, so I don't care that much. But I will give it a go!

Women's tournament goes chalk in the first round, but the men's has a couple "upsets" with #5 Carson-Newman taking down Wingate, and #6 Newberry doing the Lord's work and eliminating Tusculum. Based on the regional rankings, I would be surprised if the Bulldogs or Pioneers make the big dance now. Maybe 1 of the 2 at best.

Tusculum is definitely out. Wingate still has a chance.

Wingate needs help bad though. They and Georgia College are in the same boat. They need C-N and some of the other bid stealing teams not currently in the top 10 in the region to not win the region.

Augusta, Queens, LMU and Pembroke are all locks regardless.

                    On the men's side:

#5 CNU 78, #1 LMU 66 (huge upset in my view)
                    #2 QU 87, #6 Newberry 57

Championship at 4 today. If Carson-Newman wins, this really could help scramble the bracket for the SE region.

                    On the women's side:

#4 Anderson 76, #1 Wingate 69 (big upset as well)
                    #2 CNU 66, #3 CC 58

                    Championship at 1 today.

CN over LMU isn't really that massive of an upset in my mind because CN had them beat during the 2nd meeting in the regular season and just went blank the last 3:11. 12 ties and 13 lead changes.

A win vs Queens would be big. CN lost by 2 the first time. Got obliterated the 2nd in Charlotte. CN shot nearly 60 percent from 3 in 1st meeting, 15 percent in second. Eagles defense is playing great right now. First team to hold LMU under 70 this year. And gave yp 49 to Wingate.

I will agree to disagree - CN is not regionally ranked, and even if they were up on LMU in the regular season (which multiple teams have been, even fairly late) the Railsplitters have been pretty good this year at closing out games. So a 12 point victory especially is a big upset.

On the women's side - if Anderson wins the title over CN it probably knocks out Catawba from the NCAAs (although they are on thin ice already).

I don't think Catawba has anything to worry about now.. Anderson didn't stand a chance today.. absolute massacre
