The M.B.G. Poll was established (initially just for the SAC) years ago as an annual preseason anticipated barometer as to where teams (based on a combination of available data, returning players, recruiting / transfers, trends, etc) stand prior to starting the season. Based on the percentage of accuracy (which has been fairly high during many seasons) it appears to have influenced coaches preseason polls in the pass, along with fans perception at to what type of season their team may have. So carefully analyze the individual rankings, which could actually change up to the last week before kickoff of the initial game begins, and see if this evaluation matches my best guess, not only now, but throughout the 2022 season.

Switch Mars Hill and Barton. Honestly maybe even put MH above Wingate.

Carson Newman 6th? Take a closer look, I see them finishing with 1 maybe 2 wins vs D2 competition this year. Upstart Barton (which has most players back) ran over the Eagles 31-17 last season.

Barton also beat Wingate last year.

Ok - I will defer to your good judgment and revise. Move Barton up to 5, Mars Hill down to 6, Wise up to 7, and CN down to 8. That feels about right.

Would love to hear thoughts! Was I unfair to your team? If so, give it to me.

Watch what you wish for with Catawba. They have the resources now to dominate the SAC conference. Received a 200 million dollar donation recently and I am sure some of it will uplift all their sports teams.
