Because everyone thinks their university is special when it comes to this sort of stuff, and time and time again, they aren't. Whats the difference between the football budget, and the football operating budget?

There isn’t a difference. But none of that is what’s being discussed when we say not university funded. That statement was pointed towards the improvements made in facilities etc that ReddieMade alluded to when being shocked that HU football was out of money. Again, speaking on things you don’t know.

There’s off and on discussion on the main board about funding for small college football, especially in comparison to FBS/Power 4 programs. People that seem to know have said Harding does not pay for athletics with student fees or tuition like some other schools do. I’ll admit ignorance on this point, though.

I’ve gleaned that Harding has done better than many similar schools when it comes to funding and the problems of enrollment cliff, but again I have no inside info.

I mostly think this is a sign of Harding’s attitude towards athletics, that I generally agree with: Athletics is a cost, an investment, by the school and its donor base, for the benefit of Harding as an institution and its students, especially its athletes.

As FoothillBison said, the sky is not falling, but I will be rooting against Central Washington and Colorado Mesa so we get the number 1 seed and all the home games.
This comment I agree with 100%.

With regional realignment as long as Harding continues to dominate the GAC they are guaranteed no worse than a 2 seed most years as long as they stay undefeated and have home field advantage until the championship game in optical conditions.

The middle ground is dropping 1 or 2 games and having to travel everywhere but that should be cut down a bit especially if Oklahoma and Texas schools step up and make the playoffs.

The silo is great if you run the table but starts to suck real fast when you drop that first game of the season as Harding and OBU will tell you.

That’s 10 more than a lot of other folks, to y’all’s credit. Reddies are building, we’ll get there.

I don’t think anyone is arguing that Harding is a cut above the rest of our league right now. I’m certainly not. I just saw the post and it caught me by surprise and I’m asking questions because many of you are probably plugged in. Whatever Harding is doing is clearly working, which is why the post surprised me. Just wasn’t something I was expecting to see at a place like that.

I didn’t think there was any vitriol in your post. There seems to be some defensive nature in others..

Does the NCAA no longer reimburse travel expenses for playoff teams?

It does. As long as you order off the McDonalds dollar menu.

I was more referring to ground transport (or, air transport if need be), lodging, etc. I would have to check, but I'm sure the NCAA covers the bulk of the costs.

I guess I was a little defensive, Reddie Made.

Here is the link for per diem and transportation costs provided for the teams competeting in the post season for 2024-2025

                      https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/cha...elPolicies.pdf

Travel size is limited to 58 players and total 70 people including coaches, support and medical staff. The amount has gone up a decent bit ($135) per day, it easily requires more than 70 people including players for a university to travel and is still not enough. I know the NCAA has to limit some of the cost, but this is not enough.
