Dropping of the silo would be good for the GAC, the immediate surrounding area, and even the whole SR in the end.

Harding probably could get a home and home with Pitt State. And my T Wolves did go up to Grand Valley a couple years ago so that one possible... although would be a long trip if home and home.Originally posted by FoothillBison View PostWho would actually volunteer to play Harding though? People get so afraid of our Offense and it is unconventional. That would be tough sledding for the Bisons.

I think a lot of people would love to see the GAC silo drop but it all comes down to money. The whole reason the GAC exists is to minimize or at least have a predictable travel schedule that can be budgeted and accounted for each year. If you look at the state of small colleges, particularly small private colleges (speaking to HU specifically), post Covid is not good.Originally posted by ARtransplantedTWolf View PostDropping of the silo would be good for the GAC, the immediate surrounding area, and even the whole SR in the end.
A quick Google search shows around 80 closures or mergers in the last 5 or so years. Even with a solid endowment and astute financial planning, the reality with dropping enrollment and rising costs really limit what expenses schools can practically spend. We look at this through the lens of football but at the end of the day it’s just a line item on a budget and if it doesn’t make sense for the broader good of an institution then it won’t happen.
Harding has had plenty of exposure nationally even with the silo and the rest of football sponsoring schools who don’t compete are just happy it doesn’t cost them more than it already does.
Back to the thread topic though, solid pickup by UAM. Curious to see how quickly he can shake things up.

I get it. It’s the money for travel. But 2 games out of conference with teams from the southern parts of the MIAA, GLVC plus Delta State are all bus rides and couldn’t be that expensive. The men’s and women’s volleyball, basketball, soccer and men’s baseball teams do it. I’ll just tired of beating the best teams in the region and then having to travel to finish out the playoffs because our KPI is effected by a low SOS due to the silo schedule.

We’re talking like 15 people with a a pair of shoes, basketball shorts, and a half dozen water bottles. That’s is a lot different travel expense than 75+ with equipment. I’d wager the cost of all those sports combined total pretty close to football. I just don’t see the university gaining much, if anything at all, from going to play Delta State.Originally posted by OldBison View PostI get it. It’s the money for travel. Pitt State isn't afraid of playing anyone. Yes Harding as smoked them 2 times in the last 2 years just remember, that was Ferris's last loss. Their schedule shows they'll play anyone anywhere.Originally posted by FoothillBison View PostWho would actually volunteer to play Harding though? The GAC did the silo because of cost cutting in the fact that the MIAA had done the same thing. And it does cut non football cost big time with how they have travel partners . What was the MIAA the golf South the lone Star and the glvc all looking for games if you split the conference into two divisions did a four-year cycle where you only played three from other division and left three non con games. It'd be an easy pie. And it would help all the non-hardings of the world maybe schedule a paycheck game with an FCS and still have two non cons. For Harding the strength of schedule boost would assure home field. But the West could play the lsc and the MIAA the East could play the GSC the lone Star and anybody. Party would make a killing playing the glvc and probably spend less time on travel that most of Oklahoma schools.
