  • GAC Bowl Games

In addition to Harding hosting UTPB for the SR4 Final, two other GAC teams are competing this Friday in bowl games.

ECU is facing independent Northeastern in the First Nations Bowl in Tahlequah.

Arkansas Tech is facing West Texas A&M in the Heritage Bowl in Corsicana, TX.

Both these bowl games are exactly what D2 bowl games should be, a reward for improving programs who miss out on the playoffs.

If Harding wins the regional final and Tech and ECU both win their bowl games, the GAC will have gone 5-0 in post-season play in SR4; making the GAC the undisputed best conference in the super region!

Interesting opportunity for two GAC teams that showed marked improvement this year. Both of these matchups will show the upper middle teams rate with the middle of the LSC and MIAA. I know NE is not in the MIAA but this I think they could been closer to the middle of the MIAA than in years past.

I have my doubts that ATU’s defense can stop WTU’s Martinez. I think ECU will do better than most folks think against Northeastern State.

I would be interested in hearing what the posters from ECU and ATU think of their match ups. WTAM quarterback looks to be really good. How about it, TechBoys? Does ATU have a shot at winning this bowl game?

I am heading north in a second to watch NSU and ECU. Play today. I think it's going to be a good game. Both are teams on the rise. NSU had a great season as a full independent and was probably just outside the top ten in regional rankings. We gave up 10 points the last 5 minutes in the third game of the season to msst probably cost us a chance at the playoffs.

Two of the best coaches in OK high school history came out of NSU, Lauren Montgomery and Allen Trimble- I’m rooting for the river hawks!

I was wanting Tech to kick the PAT and go to OT. But now I believe we made the right call. I don’t think our D would have been able to stop the WT fast-pace on the short field.

Congratulations to Arkansas Tech for a great year in the GAC, for getting to play in a bowl game and for going for two for the win but sadly falling short. A fine representation of the GAC.

Wish I could have watched the ATU- WTAM game. Looks like it was a good one. I kept checking the score and thought WTAM would pull too far ahead for the Wondering Boys to catch up. Going for the win was the right decisiion.

                  Was Martinez really good?

I wish SAU could have gotten their chance with WTAM, but glad ATU got to play in it.
