Do any of you GVSU/GLIAC folks know if the lost 2020 game in Pueblo is going to be added on in 2024, or is it lost forever? Related, with the vaccines rolling out I am cautiously optimistic that the 2021 season will be a go. Any suggestions on places to eat and sights to see in Grand Rapids/Allendale for a visiting fan?

I believe that the 2020 game is just lost...hard to say what eatery will still be around by then...about 34% have closed in Michigan so far and the gov just extended the closing orders.

They're not "closing orders." You're being an intentional source of misinformation. Any place can offer take-out, delivery, and outdoor dining. If they aren't able to offer any of those things and have to be closed, then that is their own fault for being so pigeonholed in their business that they can't do the slightest bit of convenience for their customers.

There's plenty of great places to get food from in the GR area. Not so much the Allendale area. In Allendale, you're pretty much gonna be limited to Peppino's or Main Street Pub, both offering typical bar food, with Peppino's also having exceptional pizza.

In GR itself you can get anything you could think of. There's plenty of breweries and plenty of pizza spots. There's a downtown market that you can get ice cream, barbecue, and pizza from. It all just kinda depends what type of food you're interested in because GR has a great option for virtually everything.

There's more than just pizza and beer, depends on your budget. Leo's and Chop House are high-end $$$$ but very good downtown spots, chains are concentrated around the malls and the NW part of town. Meijer Gardens and the Ford presidential museum are popular tourist stops. Plenty of casual hiking spots within a couple miles of campus. Bring your kayak, plenty of rivers and lakes, if that's what "floats your boat" ;-)

I didn't say anything about number of businesses or restaurants are closing. Literally all I said was that they're not "closing orders" as you disingenuously called the health department's guidelines. Quite literally everyone can remain open under the guidelines. If they aren't able to, that's their own fault.

Please let me know where else the health department's guidelines are called "closing orders". That's all that I mentioned.

No that's not "all" that you mentioned. You said he was being an "intentional" source of misinformation. How would you know his intent? Why don't you just say you believe the statement is not totally correct in your opinion and state your reason instead of attacking his character? Where did you learn how to be such a richard, or were you born that way?

I'm not into name calling, but I'm close. This is blatantly incorrect. If you mean the business can exist, fine. But if one can't distribute the service or product...they are not open. Bowling? Closed, Theatre, closed, etc. Take that chip off your shoulder... it'll be easier to move around.

Oh, as for guidelines... you want to pay the fine? Or compensate the business for loss of whatever license the Gov. requires them to operate under?

The discussion was about places to eat. He even specifically mentioned "eateries" in his post. No restaurant was forced to close by "closing orders". Any restaurant could offer take-out or delivery. None were forced to close. There were guidelines put in to place by the health department. Not a single restaurant or "eatery" was told to close. If they chose not to operate under the guidelines of offering takeout or delivery, that's their own fault for being an awful business model.

What? He literally said "closing orders" which is intentionally incorrect and he knows it. No "eatery" was "forced" to close by "closing orders". As I just said in another post, every restaurant has been able to operate with take-out or delivery throughout the entire year. If they chose not to do that, that's their own fault for being an awful business model that is unable to adapt to even the slightest inconvenience.

Being a richard would be intentionally portraying our state in a negative light for no reason other than a political agenda, even though quite literally nothing is different as it pertains to restaurants and eateries compared to every other moderately-populated state, no matter who it is run by.

LANSING, MICH. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued a new emergency order today that enacts a three-week pause targeting indoor social gatherings and other group activities in an effort to curb rapidly rising COVID-19 infection rates.

Under this order, indoor residential gatherings are limited to two households at any one time. However, MDHHS strongly urges families to pick a single other household to interact with over the next three weeks, consistent with new guidance released by the department. The order is aimed at limiting residential and non-residential gatherings where COVID-19 spreads rapidly. Bars and restaurants will be open for outdoor dining, carry-out and delivery only. Gyms will remain open for individual exercise with strict safety measures in place. Casinos, movie theaters and group exercise classes will be closed. Professional and college sports meeting extraordinary standards for risk mitigation may continue without spectators, however all other organized sports must stop. Colleges and high schools may proceed with remote learning, but must end in-person classes.

Nope Kle was right...they are not closed...they just cant serve food or open their bar inside....and yes...ANY IDIOT owner should be able to run a business well and stay open at say...4-8% of usual volume...its simple...you get your rent reduced, your insurance reduced, your electric and gas reduced....just curious Kle...where does one apply for all that? I assume you have run many successful business ventures in your time to be able to come on here and tell us how simple it is...how is your theater doing? Your gym? I dont think you own a casino but if you did how thats working out? Now in all fairness we have lost 92% of our household income during the shut down...so yea...I am not thrilled about it...but have I followed every rule to the t? F yes I have...and I will do what ever the governor asks of me...she is in charge...do I agree with her all the time? nope...but do I have a better plan? Nope...so...maybe I am wrong but when a business is closed, its bad news....sorry if my facts are not 100% straight like yours are...have a Merry Christmas and I will see you all in the fall of 2021 IF we have football...at this point I hope and pray we do...but given the facts that many folks are saying no to the vaccine I am really starting to have doubts. Hopefully I am wrong as usual. Still time to get your donation in for 2020 Kle....
