Lincoln was 1-9 last year. They beat Willamette, a D3 team in Oregon. And they lost a game by two points at Whitworth, a D3 team in Washington state. The rest of their games weren't close.

True point - their owner, err... "president" is involved in SF real estate. Probably why I keep thinking they're in SF.

Still, there are so many better options in that area for education. I'd say I feel for those who fall for their scam, but few actually are - except for unsuspecting foreign students. Which, I can't really blame them in all honesty.

According to this blog post - you're only steps from that next payday loan, too! Great campus amenity.

BTW, the other thread about moving about generally has a consensus to stay DII. So one thread, we stay, the other, we moan some about the quality of the opposition available for GV to play. (Not saying that we wouldn't be moaning about the opposition in FCS.) But football competition is one of the reasons for momentum building to move up.
Lincoln University of Pennsylvania (CIAA) or Lincoln University of Missouri (MIAA) would count as a D2 game.

Lincoln University of California, not so much.

And as bad as the D2 Lincolns are, they'd be an upgrade on many fronts than a sketchy California college football program that would make Bishop Sycamore look like Clarkston or Warren De La Salle.

That's a motto more in line with those "get rich quick by working at home" schemes.

I was surprised to read that D1 Pioneer League St Thomas will be hosting them in St Paul. You would think that they could have at least gotten a D2 team.

I have a hunch that some money is exchanging hands. Why else would they be able to get FCS opponents? Those teams won't be able to count this blow out for playoff consideration, and they definitely aren't risking injury out of good faith. I mean, they have Gary Payton money...

No evidence to support it, just a hunch.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic with the Harvard part.

                    Definitely a questionable institution.

GV scheduling Lincoln (CA) is GV's own fault - they definitely have opportunities for better opponents, but chose this one instead. I wonder why?

I just hope Lakers fans recognize that.

Just a reminder - Lincoln University accepts PayPal, CashApp, and Venmo for your $500 deposit on your roster spot (nonrefundable, of course):

They even provide links to download the apps if you need! How convenient is that?

Has anyone ever seen a page like that on a college athletics site?

So what opponents are willing to play GVSU in that week? I bet if you could send a list of teams will to play to the ADs office she would send you a nice t shirt as a gift. Getting ANYONE to play GVSU or Ferris is damn near impossible. GVSU even pays teams to play home OR away and they cant get games. FCS is coming soon for this exact reason unless the GLIAC can get something done NOW.

Between FCS, D2, D3, and NAIA - AD couldn't find *one* program willing to play GVSU? They had to choose Lincoln? That sounds like an administrative problem to me, not a "nobody wants to play us" problem. Either that or my original theory that money is exchanging hands in a reverse PFP situation.

Heck, Lindenwood came up to SDSU last year. Maybe the Lakers would be willing to sacrifice a home game to play a quality FCS team. It would be a guaranteed loss, but it would look a lot better than beating a bunch of JUCO kids who paid for roster spots. Just an idea.

Really a guaranteed loss? Maybe...maybe not. A home game that brings in say 12-14K fans and revenue is not something you just drop...maybe at SMSU they would but GV will not.

And that's exactly it. Like I said before, there is a large culture shift in Division II. These schools no longer want to try to compete financially or athletically, so they're creating their own island of misfit toys and weakening the division in the process by forcing the larger programs out.
