This doesn't reflect well on Wayne State as a whole IMO.
Maybe Brady comes back in a year??? It sucks to have to throw away another year though.

Going to Wayne State games is about to be a purely social affair for me next year a la the Ron Gardenhire era Tigers. Have a nice day out, put some burgers on the grill, delete a few beers and chat about the more successful WSU teams. It's disappointing that's where we're at.

You can add to GV's portal losses:

Ronald Jackson - redshirt freshman starting DT
        Zalyn Martin - soph DL
Trey Bell - redshirt freshman WR

At this point it's easier to list the likely returning starters who haven't entered the portal. Schuster, and uh......Kellen Reed? lol. Do we even have a single returning starter on defense right now?

Yeah it's sad. I've already written off next season and have to look forward to 2027 with hopefully a new head coach. I hate to write off an entire season but I just can't see anything positive happening with Wheatley in charge. The bad thing is the eventual new head coach will have an even deeper hole to try and dig out of after another year of degradation for the program.

I can't imagine any competent AD allowing this to happen but it's happening. Wake me up in '27.

It's close to a no, but not sure for the defense. I heard before the last game that every starting DL was going to enter the portal, and only Josh Williams remains but I will not be surprised if he still enters as well. On offense, OL Josh Martin, Josh Sander & Evan Curtiss are returning as of now but OL was not GV's strong area.

I think the majority of them will be back...if you havent gotten a really good offer by now...just wait till the D1 portal opens and all those guys get in there...Conde has a deal in place...the rest are waiting to be " paid" . A part FCS series offer and loss of a years worth of credits is not going to move most guys...Agents are blowing sunshine up their ass and hoping they will jump...a few will....most wont.

Not sure about the majority but a decent number of them. I think a lot of the top D2 programs are now seeing a trend. One teammate gets paid big time so a lot of teammates enter to at least see what kind of deal they could get, if they aren’t able to get a big NIL deal then they most likely return to their team. A similar trend is happening to “bad” D2 programs, the difference being that if there isn’t a big D1 NIL deal for them then they are setting on another D2 program. Another thing to keep in mind is that you have to be both: academically eligible at time of transfer and have progress towards graduation to be eligible at your new school. You don’t have to be those things to enter the portal. Some enter who are not are just hoping to be by the end of the semester and many do not make it to that point of being eligible.

At DL obviously almost whole 2-deep is in the portal but in the back 7 there would still be a lot coming back. 4 full-time starters and 3 who were part-time starters and/or played similar reps as the starters.

GV isn’t the only defense who may have a bunch of losses, the vast majority of defensive starters at Davenport, NMU and Wayne were either SRs or are in the portal as well. It will also be interesting to see about Ferris when they are done.

We all need to recall that entering the portal is different than transferring. No doubt that some of a team's top talent might sign at a D1/FCS institution though. But academics and actual talent will come into play. For some players, it's a no go since they may lose their spot on the current team (Scholly, etc) BEFORE some of the D1s are really ready to sign that marginal player. I would think the more maze bright guys (are they??) would understand that if they don't hear something concrete within a couple of weeks, they should go begging back to their D2 school.

Deleting beers is the only thing I miss.

I don’t know which GV oline you are watching but the GV starters are all just at or over 300 so not smaller at all - AND I don’t know what Harding oline you are looking at but they only have three guys on their roster over 300 as most are in the 280/285 range as I said - not trying to pick a fight but comeon, you do understand what I was taking about with a primary run/option type O not requiring huge olineman as needed for a passing O
