I’m a fan of this too.Originally posted by KleShreen View Post
I'm a fan of this idea. But I would assume Brady should be able to get a head coaching job elsewhere unless there's some kind of off-the-field thing that was the reason for his leaving.https://www.d2football.com/images/forumextras/2026supporter.png[/IMG]

Has anyone noticed a difference in your offensive scheme with the last few coordinators? Or does it seem they have to run the "GV" system and make tweaks here and there? I like this QB you have but he might be there for another year before someone comes calling. If that's the case, might be back to a running QB who can't throw that well. Wonder how that fits in with the new OC hires?

Running QB's who can't throw that well have won 4 of the last 5 national championships lol.Originally posted by DawgUp View PostHas anyone noticed a difference in your offensive scheme with the last few coordinators? Also, what makes you think anyone is going to come calling for Schuster? He seems to be at exactly the level he should be at, unless some kind of incredible progression happens this summer.2021 D2Football Fantasy Champion

hmmm.. Don't think a guy throwing for 3300 yds, 19 TDs and only 3 ints in the SEC would qualify for that. But when have you ever let facts get in the way of your truth.Originally posted by KleShreen View Post

Maybe you guys should come to TAs summer camp ( I believe I invited the GV brass before) and take some notes.
As far as Schuster, I've seen a crap load of FCS qbs that he's looked better than. Only takes one coach to think he's "the guy".Last edited by DawgUp; 12-30-2025, 05:07 PM.

This is funny right here. I would say two out of the 5. One being FSU in 21 and Harding in 23. 22 was an FSU QB who could only really throw, and 24 was a kid playing at Ole Miss. Oh, and this year, there was a redshirt freshman who dropped it in the perfect spot multiple times. Ferris was pretty balanced this year, with the run game edging out slightly.Originally posted by KleShreen View Post

When TA came to Ferris, he leaned heavily on the running QB to develop the team and start building something. Once we got the foundation built, he started developing his throwing schemes. He just had to get the right players in the door to have this happen. If you can run the ball you will win games. If you can run the ball and pass you will win championships 🤙

I’m not a fan of Schuster….Yet! But he was a rs freshman and certainly lacked experience and seemed reluctant to run the ball even with green grass in front of him. TA disproved the theory that if you have 2 QB’s, you don’t have any. Personally (although I hate admitting it) I like his approach. With Rose, Gulker and his outstanding wideout ( forgot his name) he literally played 5 QB’s. The opposing defense had to constantly make adjustments and never settled in. GV, with the right O-coordinator could easily do the same thing. But, then again, there’s that glaring o-line problem.Originally posted by KleShreen View Post

I’m hoping for a “Ben Johnson” type hire for o-coordinator. GV certainly has the athletes to pull it off.

I think multiple QBs work best when they have different skill sets. Like 04 pitt or NW this year, or Ferris, always.Originally posted by Thelakerman View PostI’m not a fan of Schuster….Yet! I tend to disagree. If you have QB's with different skill sets, then you're telegraphing what you're going to do with them. That was GV's problem when they would bring in Avery Moore for Cade Peterson, and when they would bring in Brady Drogosh for Andrew Schuster. You knew they were going to run the ball. Rendered it entirely ineffective.Originally posted by Predatory Primates View Post

Pitt State with Niggemann doesn't even have to pretend they're going to try and throw. He's so big and hard to bring down that even though they know the run is coming, it works anyway lol.2021 D2Football Fantasy Champion

Gotta agree. At least 4 of the 5 guys Ferris played at QB were QB’s in high school. Bower and Carter were their regular starters and Gulker and Rose shifted from their wideout and tight end positions to the QB spot. All 4 can and did throw the ball. Not sure about Tarik Brett’s past but he ran the wildcat too.Originally posted by KleShreen View Post

As for Brady Drogosh at GV, it was said that he couldn’t throw the ball. Hmmm….i find that interesting since he threw for nearly 5000 yards in high school. The Detroit papers called him the best dual threat QB ever to come out of a Michigan high school and was “Mr Football” his senior year. The GV offense did not lack skill players…..it just didn’t know how to use them. And if Coach W isn’t scouring the country for an O-coordinator with an imagination to match that guy in Big Rapids and scouring the portal for some D1 O-linemen looking for a place to get on the field, then we’re in for some more disappointment..https://www.d2football.com/images/forumextras/2026supporter.png[/IMG]

Well Wooster is 2-2 against that guy in Big Rapids ending his third year. Considering that the last OC came from Hawaii I would say that the search does cover the country pretty well. I assume getting the O line fixed was the first thing to be addressed in the off season with the coaching changes. It will be interesting to see how a new OC uses the QB room at GVSU. I could not disagree more about your evaluation of Schuster but thats another topic which frankly I do not like to discuss individual players on a message board as I dont think most know enough about what the player is told to do or not do by his coaches. New OC, Line coach, running backs coach...lets give coach Wooster a chance. That guy up north has a lot of experience for sure but...lets just see shall we?Originally posted by Thelakerman View PostAs for Brady Drogosh at GV, it was said that he couldn’t throw the ball.
