Northern Michigan has hired UW-La Crosse head coach Matt Janus.

I think that's a good hire for them, considering what the team has been.

His resume sure looks like he has some skills. Not sure how well he can recruit up there, but that's an issue for most. And Saggy's hire appears to be more than adequate. It'll be interesting in how they fill out their staffs and what style of play they prefer.

Yea, we'll see what happens. But I think they went wrong with the Richardson hire because he spent 20 years away from the area by the time he went back to NMU. I think grabbing a guy who has already been recruiting Wisconsin/Minnesota/UP recently is a good get for them. I mean, hell, even if he just brings a bunch of guys with him from La Crosse via the portal, NMU will already be instantly better lol.

Yea he's posted offers from basically a who's who of P4 schools. West Virginia, Duke, SMU, LSU, Michigan State, Texas Tech have all offered already.

I think given the coaches background this is a great hire for NMU. Marquette is a great little town and I can see the right coach doing well up at NMU.

Trezelle Jenkins Jr has committed to Kansas. Off the top of my head I believe he is the first Wayne player to transfer directly to a P4 school in the portal era.

Hard to know for sure but I would assume they will use him similarly to like Ferris did maybe just not to that extreme. I would doubt they will use him much as a "traditional" TE attached to the line. He did some of that at Ferris but not much, and he was serviceable but it's not his strength. I don't see them using him a lot down blocking on or wide reaching Big Ten DEs and OLBs.
