That explains Trezelle Jenkins Jr. committing to Kansas. 6'6" and 326. Yeah the line as a whole was pretty awful, but that size is exactly what D1 is looking for.Originally posted by Predatory Primates View Post
In D1, height and the wingspan/frame type that come with it is valued pretty highly. Harding, and a lot of other D2 teams have a lot more of the 6-0 to 6-2 linemen that may not get D1 looks, no matter how good they are.
D1 schools just aren't out there trying to woo 6-0 295 lb guys away from their D2 teams. Now 6-5, 275, they figure they can build up and work with.

GVSU DL Ronald Jackson has committed to Austin Peay.
That's one of those moves where I don't really get it. You're going to play for a mid FCS team against comparable competition. Maybe he got a few extra bucks though, I guess.2021 D2Football Fantasy Champion

Looks like GV has gotten a transfer in. Tommy Donovan from Illinois State, originally from South Lyon. Looks like he played every game in 2024 on special teams and a little bit of receiver, then played a few games this past fall with a couple tackles and is listed as DB.2021 D2Football Fantasy Champion

GVSU updates on the guys I'm aware of were/are in the portal now that the first D1 deadline has passed.
OC Cannon Mackey - no offers known at this time
WR Lynn Wyche-El - Looks like he committed to Youngstown State
WR Sean Byrd - Committed to Rhode Island
WR Trey Bell - offers from McPherson (NAIA), Marian (NAIA), Wheeling (D2), and Walsh (D2)
TE Conor Smith - offer from Northwood, but can't tell if he committed there or not
K Jay Cady - offers from Adrian (D3) and Ashland (D2).
DL Jibriel Conde - committed to Kansas
DL Khamani Potts - committed to Colorado State
DL Jamari Buddin - I don't see any offers posted about him. Not even from his agency, which appears to be reposting EVERYONE'S offers from their agency. I feel like he has to have offers somewhere but they just aren't being posted.
DL Zalyn Martin - no offers known at this time
DL Ronald Jackson - committed to Austin Peay
DB Jason Hardy - committed to Middle Tennessee State
DB Quinn Wills - offers from Eastern Kentucky, Stephen F Austin, SE Missouri State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, James Madison, Western Kentucky, Georgia Southern2021 D2Football Fantasy Champion

I can’t believe I didn’t think about this earlier. Get out your tin foil hats, y’all.
Tyrone Wheatley played at Michigan from 1991-1994. WSU Interim President Richard Bierschbach graduated Class of 94 undergrad and 97 law school from…Michigan. This is the narrative I’m rolling with in 2026 lmao

Not such a crazy theory IMO. Something has to explain why Wayne State would hold on to an abject failure of a head coach and face another losing season for sure with potentially another 0-11 result. I haven't heard a better explanation as to why Wheatley wasn't fired.Originally posted by mtsax305 View PostI can’t believe I didn’t think about this earlier. Get out your tin foil hats, y’all.

GVSU has a WR transfer commit from DeShaun Lanier from Bowling Green. He went to high school at Chippewa Valley, where he was teammates with Schuster.
Also, I see that previous GVSU players Josh Schell (Tennessee, didn't really play at all) and Jeff Burton (Georgia State, played some) are both in the portal again.2021 D2Football Fantasy Champion

Trezellle's father played for Michigan with Wheatley. This audience here might already know that. I recall his dad because I played against him on the line..in HS in the Chicagoland area. He played at Morgan Park in the city and was the same size/frame. He eventually made it to the league, to my surprise (honestly), but started for the Wolverines also.Originally posted by mtsax305 View Post

Philpot was 6-5 265. They knew he was gonna run, too. Interesting enough, Philpot was Niggeman's HS coach.Originally posted by KleShreen View Post
I tend to disagree. If you have QB's with different skill sets, then you're telegraphing what you're going to do with them. That was GV's problem when they would bring in Avery Moore for Cade Peterson, and when they would bring in Brady Drogosh for Andrew Schuster. You knew they were going to run the ball. Rendered it entirely ineffective.
Pitt State with Niggemann doesn't even have to pretend they're going to try and throw. He's so big and hard to bring down that even though they know the run is coming, it works anyway lol.
