I was shocked that UIU lost to MOSOState.

You and me both - looking at stats from last week for both and watching UIU live I really thought we'd win this by 2 scores. I didn't get to see this one live, but reading through play by play and reading recaps a couple things stand out. We settled for 2 FGs after long drives, one inside the 10 yard line. That's a 8 point swing, second, up 13-7 we recovered a fumble on their 37 and then fumbled it right back on a trick play on the first play. We come away with points there game over. D played well, but one big play which I saw the replay on was an 80 yd TD on the first play of series, our DB just bit on the fake to one side and let WR run right past him on the other side and wasn't within 15 yards of him when ball was thrown. Finally had chance to tie up with 2 point conversion and couldn't get it done. We will have some growing pains with only 5 starters back from last year, but this is a game we have to win as Michigan Tech looms large on the road in two weeks. I really thought we'd be 2-0 going into that game and at worst 2-1 going into conference play. A week off to regroup and hopefully we can recreate the W on the road like we did last year up there.

Had to go and see for myself because I thought you were kidding. I know you shouldn't really take much stock in the Coaches Poll these days, but Lincoln didn't have any votes last week... who on earth gave them a vote for having a bye week??Originally posted by OICfootball View PostBut Lincoln picked up a vote in the coaches poll.

Bye plus opening the season with an NAIA win. I was curious of Lincoln would make a graphic promoting it. Maybe someone looked at mens soccer schedule.Originally posted by Finchwidget View Post

I think UIU will have some growing pains this year. One thing that has stood out to me through the first two games is a lack of a running game, excluding the qb runs. We returned all of the running backs from last year so it leads me to believe either the offensive line is weaker or the new OC is learning on the go for play calling. We’ll be ok, the young guys, including coaches, just need some experience.
