Central Missouri @ Fort Hays Poor UCM, they always start the season with a tough game. Shame on the MIAA for making a potential championship eliminator be the first game of the year. Hays brings back 7 starters on defense 6 of which were All-MIAA last year. Hays won last year 35-6 in Hays and this time of year defense is usually ahead of offense. Sorry Mules gotta go with the home team here.

Central Oklahoma @ Pittsburg State Pitt's new offense worries me, especially early in the year and at home where Beck has managed to turn the Jungle into the Bungle (credit to Predatory for the name). That being said I think there is too much of a talent disparity for UCO to pull of a mild road upset.

Emporia State @ Northeastern State NESU was doomed in this game when their plea to play William Jewell fell through. Bees romp on the road.

Missouri Southern @ Nebraska Kearney I guess someone has to win, and as disastrous as the UCM/Hays game is to one of those teams to start the year, a win by either Southern or UNK in the season opener could be a nice jump start to the season and instill some confidence. UNK due to home field advantage and being further along in their rebuild.

Missouri Western @ Northwest Missouri Caldwell gets flagged for 8 personal fouls for giving the MW coaching staff the middle finger after each of his 8 touchdowns. The Cats win big at home and their fan base starts to book hotels in December close to Childrens Mercy Stadium. Another example of a game that due to the intense rivalry between these two schools should be played in the late fall not in the season opener.

Washburn @ Lindenwood BigSig has talked me into this pick with his posts all summer long but this game is a pick'em in my mind. Potentially weak line play by Washburn and Lindenwood starting to get some athletes on the field is the difference.
