surgery this morning to remove the leg to just below the knee. hes in good spirits and his doctors are in touch with the docs for being fit for the spring board cleat or whatever you call it....he says he HAS to come back and play. it may just be the pain meds talking but at least hes got goals and at least entertaining it.
you learn in the army not to leave a man behind in any situation....wether it be face down in an alley or with a fat ugly one.....this was the perfect storm from what ive heard from several players. truck broke down, phone was stepped on at pitt state and rode with someone else to bricktown. told them he would cab home....ended up on the tracks that would have eventually led him to within a half mile of his house.

bad decision and noone to stop him from himself.

Jimbo next time you or your son sees him, would you mind showing him these articles. There are precedents for things like this.

At least it might boost his spirits. That is tough to go through.

Former LU lion Sterling Thomas is from Broken Arrow, OK. He incurred a spinal cord injury a few years ago and lost use of his legs. I've never met the man personally but follow him on social media. His perseverance, spirit, and leadership is inspiring.

Given proximity, it could be helpful for those 2 to connect. Sterling's example and presence is enough to inspire anyone, and I'm sure the young man could use some encouragement right now.
