Central Missouri @ Emporia State--After that atrocious first half last week, the faces on the Big Red Asses are also bright red now. The greatest football season in UCM history will not survive a few more halves like that. Boda and his staff need to just forget about their personal resumes or their extra-marital affairs for the time-being and focus hard and fast on simple team psychology. The Mules could / should waltz to the MIAA Championship, but they need to have their heads in the game every quarter they play from here-on-out. Ears 44, Venom Sacks 17.

Fort Hays State@ Pittsburg State--Two in-state rivals still in the running for something should make this game special. Unfortunately for Pitt, Too Many Men On the Field calls, too many play clock violations, too many off-sides, too many stupid game-after-game-after-game mistakes this day doom the once-great Gorillas. Tigers 34, Tim "You Know" Beck 13.*

Missouri Western @ Central Oklahoma--Typical Broncho Bounce-Back day; look like consistent garbage for a Saturday or three, then suddenly shine like solid gold world-beaters. Okies 35, Griffs 21.

Bye @ Lincoln--Only in this Johnson / Racey era of Quantity Over Quality could the MIAA ever hope to dredge up a worse team anywhere than Lincoln. But we sure rang the bell with the Talequaw College of Flower Arrangement & Small Engine Repair. When a lowly Washburn (the MIAA's "best of the worst") lays 70 on them then that is as bad as bad gets. BBB's easiest call of the season. Abe 21, Talequaw CFA&SER 0.

Northwest Missouri @ Nebraska Kearney--The real Pitt State showed its true colors last week, and that translates into the Barely Bearcats still being no better than they actually are--middlin'. The MIAA is really down this year. The quality and coaching is just not there. The mediocrities at Arrowhead last week, coupled with the poor first half performance of UCM, bears this out. NW 33, UNK 28.

Washburn @ Missouri Southern--Of all the MIAA, only the Green and Gold have shown slow, but steady, improvement. Of course, when you are down there at the bottom of the barrel where Southern was, there is nowhere to go but up. Beating the Bods is their turn-around game. Lions up early and having fun, Bods down late and lower than a toad's belly in a wagon rut after the final whistle. MSSU 27, WU 17.


*Since Mumblin' Jim is so dilegent at racing onto the field and halting a game in progess when lightning is spotted fifty miles away up at Bronaugh, might not Pitt State consider hiring a new, competent AD and keep Jim on board as the Official Lightning Spotter in the athletic department? Sounds like something Jim would actually be pretty good at.
