Ugly 2nd half by Pitt. Coach B Wright has to learn how to coach vs NW in second halves. Some bad ref calls and some dumb stuff by Pitt made that much closer than it should have been. Hope Braden Wright is ok, Gaskill hit him hard. Wright is a player. Happy Pitt won, still would be nice to put 4 quarters or even 3 quarters together vs a good team. NW could be in postseason trouble, that UNK game will be a playoff eliminator. Heck if Washburn wins that makes 6 teams 4-2 and there will be lots of playoff eliminators.

The ref on the sideline at the back of the end zone was looking right at it and he's the one who made the call.

Thought it was going to be a replay of a bad movie where Pitt goes up big at half and blows it in the second half. If felt like the oh no, here we go again feeling after we sacked Wright and then get called for a defensive holding.
The 2 point conversion was close. Heard that the TE caught the ball but when he was coming down the Pitt players pushed him out of bounds and he didn't get his foot in. The ref came running to the play and then smacked the ground and waive his arms toward the back of the endzone to say he was out of the back of the endzone. Never should have came to that to begin with.
My complaints about Wright. He needs to throw analytics away. Go by the feel and flow of the game. Never should have went for it in the first half around mid-field. NW wasn't moving the ball at all and our defense was in total control of the game. Punt the ball and give it to NW inside the 20 and let the defense control the game. Instead they get the ball and some momentum and get a field goal. Otherwise we are probably looking at a 21-0 halftime game.
He didn't adjust to the pressure NW was getting on Dodson in the second half. NW couldn't run the ball so what did they do to come out the 3rd and do? Throw 3 yard passes to the RB out of the backfield or TE and pick up 3 to 6 yards. It became their run game. We just sit in the pocket and get pressured. Not only short quick passes but roll the QB out once in a while. The other thing that we didn't do is go 5 wide and spread out the defense and throw the short hitches or stops for 5 yards. Again, Dodson doesn't have to take any pressure and that could have become our run game.
Wright has to get better or we don't go far.
We have a good defense. We are a dominant pass rusher away of having a great defense.
Run blocking is still a weakness.
Dodson needs to stop floating his passes all the time. Put it on the WR or TE and stop floating that ball. There were 3 passes that the TE beat his man but Dodson floated his pass and overshot him instead of putting it on him. Dodson has been floating his passes all year.
A win is a win. Let's see how the rest of the season goes.

What I didn’t like: Just like the game at UCO, NW came out with zero fire / expected to win / forgot to get off the bus the first half.
What I did like: Unlike that game, they fought hard in the 2nd half / didn’t fold up the tent and made a game of it.
****ty calls on both teams. Don’t remember the last time a team won and still b!tched about the refs costing them the game. You got the last call that mattered. Take the win.
I have a riverside camping spot and a cooler full of beer. I think I’ll get over it.Last edited by GoCatsGo5; 10-08-2022, 05:56 PM.

I know the nw fans want to hang him and start a RS freshman who has never played a down against Pitt's buzz saw D like that would fix anything.
But he's such a freaking gamer, I can see why the coaches go with him. A team would follow dude through hell. Lots of respect for the guy.
