Ideally, yes, but IDK if he would accept what’s pretty much a demotion. More likely he’d look for another D2 HC slot or an FCS or higher DC opening.

So let me get this straight, you are wanting RW to get released as head coach, take a pay cut and stay on as the dc since the defense is not what it used to be? I thought it was the offense that was the issue not the defense. Am I missing something? As for removing RW as HC, demoting him to the dc and RW actually staying on; that's some wishful thinking and borderline delusional.

        • Perhaps it is delusional, but defense is what RW has proven to be best at. It would be better than being fired from the program all together.

What I am upset at the "fans" that are currently pissing on him and want him canned now/or as soon as the damn season is over with....that's what I'm *****ing about....
Just exactly what some Pitt fans were doing. And they were wrong! Pitt should have fired Beck after the 16 season but hung on 3 more seasons only to finally let him go in 19 season. Waiting on doing what needs to be done only causes other issues. Enthusiasm for Pitt football fell off because of keeping him. Now it is harder to get them back and the game day atmosphere isn’t anywhere near what it once was because of refusing to do what needed to be done years before finally doing it.

But hey, keep him another 10 years would suit me just fine.

Lots of institutional inertia. Look at how long it took Pitt to move on from Kim Anderson. The game had clearly surpassed him before he came to Pitt and it showed.

              • 4-4 and the teams with the 3 worst records remaining on the schedule. Anything less than 25 point wins is disappointing and a loss to any of the 3 should result in an immediate firing.

Im all for big changes in a season or two....but give the guy a chance. One bad season in his tenure.

Hell....I remember back.in the day when Mel was taking the team to Florence year after year and not winning the big one.....folks wanted him gone.

Opposing fans were calling the Bearcats the Buffalo Bills of D2....

For the record, I said should, not would (I also didn’t say who should be fired).

Will you accept a Bowl Game invite at 7-4?

                        • only a fool would turn that down we clearly need the practice. i would also play the young qbs, both rotating series win or lose. sturdy would also be gone by then, audition time for someone else on staff to run it. not that i really think that’s the answer but i’ve seen enough of the ts experiment.

It’s not the fact of one losing season but the depletion of talent.
