I thought it was the offense that was the issue not the defense. Am I missing something? As for removing RW as HC, demoting him to the dc and RW actually staying on; that's some wishful thinking and borderline delusional.

    Borderline? Qualifier not required.

Wishful thinking is fine as long as one is aware that will never be reality.

What I am upset at the "fans" that are currently pissing on him and want him canned now/or as soon as the damn season is over with....that's what I'm *****ing about....
He's in the get it right business. He did not get it right with the OC. And that was apparent immediately in his first season. We're deep into season 3 and no change. How in the world do you actually get worse competitively offensively from what you had previously?

Hell....I remember back.in the day when Mel was taking the team to Florence year after year and not winning the big one.....folks wanted him gone.

Opposing fans were calling the Bearcats the Buffalo Bills of D2....
You just brought forth the reasoning for why he should be let go and why the other should not have been. One was running out National Title contenders year after year. The other has yet to field one imo, though I will acknowledge that according to one more informed than I that 1 team likely was.

He's on his 3rd OC...what makes anyone think he'd get it right the 4th time?

            • Will be curious to see how much of the culture is left in the players. Will they fold up or keep swinging.

              • What if Wright is just taking NW sandbagging to a whole new level. Refusing to win games until people really believe they suck, then BAM!

                • I’m just glad Ben has made NW a basketball school. About time to switch my 6X FB titles hat for my 4X BB titles hat.

                    • WTF! Washburn scores 24 on Lincoln and 31 on NW. If HC RW can no longer even recruit and coach a dominant defense, what good is he running the whole effing show?

                      • For a program whose goals are to win MIAA championships and compete for national championships, this season was a colossal slide in the wrong direction. The reasons for the slide are multifactorial. But it's only 1 season. I doubt HCWR butt cheeks even got warm but some of his assistants need to be doing some research on future employment. The questions become does HCRW know he needs to make some changes and will he make those changes? For the 1st time since 2003, NW gets to hit the recruiting trail early. They better hit it hard and they better do it well. They should only get 1 season to get this turned around. Another season like this and it starts to become a trend. Then coaching decisions have to be made. AP was an athlete at NW during the MT heyday. He was a coach and administrator during AD's run. He knows and understands the value this program has not only for the University but for the alumni and the community.

This sounds just like the Tim Beck "why'd we keep him so long" days

If they aren’t recruiting right now, they’re behind. Pitt has been offering recruits all season and before.

Like kicker said above. It's a tough move to make. Beck gave 30 years to Pitt as a player coach, coord and HC. He won NCs at every level of the job, and it was generally known that he was an all around great guy and member of the community.

It is a little more than jist business at that point.

Sure seems like I've seen many more guys announcing their offers from NW on X this year and several more commitments than I have at any time this early. Sturdy even told us at Lions Club they've changed their recruiting this year and doing a lot more earlier.
