Issues at Nebraska and Callahan went much, much deeper than their performance on the field. The reasons why as well. The comparison stops at getting rid of a coach as the program slid downhill.Originally posted by Gorilla John 92 View PostIs NW trying to go the Nebraska route? Nebraska has been irrelevant since they fired frank solich and he won 10 games. While I'm not sad that nw isn't going to the playoffs and lost to the mules, rw doesn't desrve to be fired for missing the playoffs this year.

Where is your bottom for finally seeing what most of us have seen for years now?Originally posted by Bearcat06 View Post
2017: 2nd Place in MIAA
2018: Tied for 1st Place in MIAA
2019: Tied for 1st Place in MIAA
2020: COVID
2021: First Place in MIAA
2022: 2nd Place in MIAA
Playoffs every year.....
Lost to Ferris State two times when they went to NC
Lost to Ferris State when they won NC
Lost to Grand Valley....who lost to Ferris State in
NC.
Yeah......thats a ****ty record.
Btwn 2005 and 2008.....one can only suspect you and a few others were calling for Mel's head because he made it to the NC but didn't win....
Raise your expectations. Listen to someone like this:
Some of you are okay with rebuilding, cause God knows we don't have the talent to reload right now.“We don’t rebuild, we reload,” Rich Wright said. “And that is kind of our moniker. We have to have a sense of: ‘Yes, we lost a great group of people, but you came to Northwest for a reason and now it is your turn to step up and shine.’”

I'm seeing this as a record 50 or more D2 fans/teams would give their left nut to have........

The part you don’t seem to be comprehending or don’t want to acknowledge is that it’s not simply the record that is the concern. It’s the level of play (or player), or scheme that has been a slow burn under his watch, especially on the offensive side of the ball. If you pay attention to these boards over the last few years, then you know it’s not just over zealous NW fans that see it. Maybe it is just about putting together a better staff, but something needs to give before we find out how far this thing can go. Personally, I don’t think he should be let go… I think he’s a great defensive mind and hell of a football coach, but I do feel like he should at least feel some pressure to make some changes. I sincerely hope that whatever needs to happen does and 2 years from now, we’ll look back at this and say damn, thank goodness we didn’t push this guy out. But… what I want to avoid is NW having to make that decision in 2 years because we’ve become a middling MIAA team that’s missed the playoffs for 3 consecutive and feeling like we waited too long. Hopefully, it all falls into place and you can start an “I told you so thread”! :)Originally posted by Bearcat06 View Post

I do think the Offensive at NW has regressed significantly. Still a great defense. Are they even getting quality offensive reps in first team vs first team at practice when the defense dominates? Is RW too dialed in on the defensive side to get offense in rhythm at practice. OL play isn't what they had with DorrelOriginally posted by Alfred33 View Post

7-4(6-4) and 2023 is finally put to rest. Worst record since ‘01, most losses since ‘05. 3-4 vs teams at least .500, 4-0 vs teams below .500. Biggest bright spot was Jay Harris’ 1400+ yds 14 TDs and at least 100 yrs in each game. Now if NW can just keep him for 2 more years

What scares me the most is all the talk the last two weeks about the "historic offensive performance" and how its the first time the Bearcats have scored 50 in three straight games since 2011 (a product of scheduling)... its like they are setting us up for no changes. A whopping 3,022 in attendance today.Originally posted by NWFanatic View Post7-4(6-4) and 2023 is finally put to rest. Just an fyi: right before the beginning of the season, my spouse (who is NW faculty) got an e-mail where Athletics was offering staff discounted west side tix in Section A, which they had never done before - usu., employees were usually offered bleacher-side seat discounts because the west side stands were usually bought out by season ticket holders well in advance. Not this year, apparently.Originally posted by NWFanatic View PostJust over 3,000 fans is not good. Smallest crowd since ‘01? The NW BB game in Joetown siphoned off some(including us).
At least we still beat Mo West who beat Pitt 😎 😎

Once the attendance goes away it's really hard to get it back.Originally posted by lleachieshusband View Post

And that’s the thing. Part of it might be the availability of streaming options and also the conflict with the MBB game, but yeah, the buy-in appears to be evaporating, and that’s not only an impact to the school, but to the community as well. Low turnouts and no playoffs (as Pitt fans know so well) mean economic impacts/lost local revenue as well.Originally posted by Predatory Primates View Post
