The days of watching a really good freshman play for your team and dreaming about how good he will be for "three more years!" really is over. Kids playing for six years with six different universities is not what God intended. šŸ˜‰

The Mules just got a nice commitment from Quintero at QB but it's a given that he won't be on this team in 3-4 years. My guess is he'll sit behind Pachot this year, start next year, maybe 2, and then move on to FCS, similar to what Omolo did. Definitely hard to watch it play out every year.

Yes, he's here for spring ball. Projected starter.

I've been out of the loop for a couple of months, who is Quintero?

                    • Jackson Berry leaving Pitt for Ft. Hays. Anyone know why?

I think Pitt was just ready to move on to a younger QB with our new OC, didn’t want to wait to see if he would qualify for an extra year? I don’t know, but as far as I understand Pitt moved on from Berry, not the other way aroundšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

It might have to do with Berry only having one semester left to play and not able to enroll in Spring semester for Spring ball and be eligible for fall semester. Since Berry didn’t compete in contact during the spring last year,

                          • Hays should be stoked. He didn't play in the spring or most of the summer at Pitt last season and was OMVP of the conference. Guy is a gamer.

                            • I can see it from the Pitt OCs side, too. If you have Berry, you have to play him, but if you are building an all new offense, you may not want to start it with a one and done who doesn't even have the spring and summer to learn it.

From the Hays side, if you can bring in Berry and some real wr speed for him to work with, you can build an offense in a hurry.

We lost our starter from last 2 years to Miami Ohio, jump up to FBS. Opportunity to fill in the absence and get a young kid ready.
