It's an 8 hour drive from Topeka to Golden. No way they do a 2nd night hotel room. Resume play at sundown, at 8:30 and be done and out of the lockerroom and on bus by 10pm and in Golden around 5am (they gain an hour time change traveling west). Of course, you'd have to figure out what to do with the Mines players during the afternoon up to game resume, but I figure they could hang out in the air conditioned Student Center or whatever it is that Washburn has.Originally posted by IchabodPower44 View Post
Story I was told…. It is Mines coach who is the dumbass and their budget couldn’t afford 2 nights at a Holiday Inn Express.

Forecast for the WU @ NW game is hi of 84 and 10% chance of rain.
last week NW had a night game in Kingsville TX…the 1,000 mile trip home was by plane and bus. They’got home around noon Sunday. The Mines, coaches whining about a long ride home after a night game was pretty sadLast edited by NWFanatic; 09-06-2026, 11:48 AM.

Did they just go inside and play on their phones in August when fall camp got hot?Originally posted by Magic Man View PostThey have a multi million dollar indoor practice facility why not go over there and finish it? What a waste of a day and trip for everyone involved. The whole thing seems like a joke.

I'm as old school as most anybody, but this crap you guys are spewing about keeping the kids in full pads playing football out in the extreme heat is ridiculous. A kid in the band died of heat stroke at Iowa over the weekend. It is a game, a game, it's a damn game. It shouldn't be putting people into potential life or death situations. I spent a few hours with three kids who play at Jewell who watched their teammate die on the field during a game and the impact on them will last the rest of their lives. You keyboard warriors should be ashamed of yourselves. Although I doubt that is possible with the level of intelligence you're already showing.

Didn't most of the conference play in the same heat? So is Washburn soft or are the other programs dangerousOriginally posted by libertybearcat View PostI'm as old school as most anybody, but this crap you guys are spewing about keeping the kids in full pads playing football out in the extreme heat is ridiculous.
