  • Concordia University to Close

So much for the GNAC's newest member. Concordia University is closing. Doesn't really impact football, but it does the GNAC as a whole.

This would be something to share in the West Region basketball forum. I see tsull posted it: https://www.d2football.com/forum/for...ordia-to-close

It would be nice to add College of Idaho, EOU, or SOU, or any combination of that 3, but doubt that's going to happen.

Need to start paying some visits to University presidents, Tim!

That would be ideal, as they are all within the footprint and would give you guys 3 more football playing schools. They can all do it from a scholarship perspective (I remember years ago someone posted what they give out in NAIA, and it would be sufficient for D-2).

College of Idaho was fully-funded in football the year they brought it back, 24 NAIA scholarships. I heard EOU and SOU both have more scholarships for football than WOU, though I can't guarantee it. I heard on good source EOU has 16 scholarships, also has a new indoor practice facility/fieldhouse.

All three schools, IMO, could make the D2 transition rather easily ... but they won't do it.
