  • CWU QB Christian Moore to Transfer

CWU starting QB Christian Moore has announced his decision to transfer. He emerged as the starter in 2019, going on to be named All-GNAC 2nd Team. He did not play in Saturday's game at Montana, with sources saying he was recovering from a shoulder surgery. He joins former-CWU starting RB Michael Roots in the transfer portal. JJ Lemming and ASU transfer Jack Smith, who both played at Montana, are frontrunners for the 2021 starting job. Quincy Glasper and Boise State transfer Zach Matlock are also in the mix.

Neither Smith or Lemming looked particularly sharp at Montana, so the competition should be wide open

Where exactly does Moore think he's going to go to get more playing time?

D3 or NAIA, I guess, though those divisions have good QB's, too. He was starting, what more does he want? The portal is out of control.

Agree. The portal is out of control and everyone thinks they are a D1 player. The grass is always greener on the other side, but it still needs to be mowed.

No he will probably just look to another D2 school. Probably RMAC somewhere.

CWUs student news did a report and interviewed Moore. He did mention that coaching changes were a factor in his decision to leave. CMU is a national playoffs contender, aren't they? Unless I am confusing them with the other Colorado schools. And most importantly all he has to do is flip the W upside down to make it an M

Colorado Mines you're thinking of, probably. They've been good for a while.

What if he doesn't win the starting job out there in Colorado? Is he going to transfer again?

Decent player, might not be mentally tough enough to hang in there, however. Like many in the various transfer portals, the first sign of adversity a lot of these athletes bail. Then they find out their next stop isn't really that great.. then they bail again.

Yeah Mines and Pueblo are the top teams. Mesa has had winning seasons every year with some 9 win seasons.

Mesa has a new coach who is going to do good things there, but a player has to be tough to play for him.

Probably won't help Mesa much. They have gone to a middle of the pack team.

Looking at their QB states from their limited 2020 season, looks like they needed an upgrade at that position. And he will be able to play in a thriving, competitive conference.
