  • GNAC Week 6 Game Thread

Only one game this week, but it's an important one. CWU heads to Monmouth to play WOU. Both teams are coming off upset victories where they came from behind in the 4th quarter to beat teams they probably should have lost to. WOU seems to have found an offense, but I think with CWU's defense and Glaspermania, CWU will probably win this one.

Video: https://www.youtube.com/wouwolves (As always, CWU still has the least good video, even with SWX doing it. I watched some of WOU's game Saturday and it's superior to CWU's. SFU's remains the best, not that they're doing it again this year)

If SFX could up the video quality it would help a lot. Also putting the down and distance and time outs left on the overlay would help, which both they can get from the scoreboard. It is nice though seeing MLB, NHL, NBA, and NFL scores and matchups on the bottom of the screen.

Donte Hamilton is the D2football Defensive Player of the Week!

Inkblot posted his regional rankings, and guess who’s in them this week?

I know Inkblot uses some formula to get to that ranking. Problem CWU will have is their strength of schedule will weaken as the season goes on, unless there's a huge upset (say SFU beating Angelo State). If WOU can beat Chadron, that will help too. The only OOC CWU has left is against Western New Mexico which is 1-4 and just lost to Angelo 62-3. Two games against WOU and one against SFU. The Lincoln game won't count. So, it's win out just to have a slight chance at the playoffs. If they had beaten Angelo and Midwestern and then won out, I think they'd be in for sure.

I noticed he did his research and didn't include the EWU loss. I know a lot of people see CWU as a 2-loss team due to that FCS loss for D2 games.

Inkblot knows his stuff about D2 football.

                Nice article.

Is Barton even eligible for the playoffs as a first year team? I know transitioning teams aren't for a couple years. If CWU loses another game, I'm pretty sure they're out of playoff contention. WOU has spoiled playoff chances of other GNAC teams before, so I'm sure the two games are going to be tough. Also, the game at WOU is at 1pm and the one at CWU is at 6pm. I got messed up by that too, initially.

Nice article. Only thing I might add to the CWU/WOU game is taking bad penalties as they have cost teams in the past in this series. Tim probably knows everyone that has cost WOU wins in the series.

Thanks for the heads up on the times, I printed out all the team schedules early in the season and I want to say I saw 6, but it’s also possible I mixed them up too. That time actually works out better given the time difference.

I don’t know about Barton-they’re already a D2 school in another conference (and have been for a long time) so they might not fall under the probation rules unless the rules regarding their joining the SAC require it. I haven’t found any information one way or the other, but I don’t think they get in regardless.

I wonder if they changed the time. I am going to the game and could have sworn it was initially at 6pm down there. Would have been great to show up at 6pm for a 1pm game and wonder where everyone is at.

I know what happened now…I printed the schedules a month ago since it’s easier for me to keep track, and I put them in alphabetical order. So when I go through the schedules, CWU comes before WOU, and they had the game as being at 6:00 PM Pacific, which is what I wrote. CWU has since changed it and it is correct now. Turns out WOU had it right all along.

A good read. It also explains why Glasper didn't play against Angelo State.

Not going to be a mud bowl at WOU today. It’s about as nice as it gets here.
