    Re: OT-Softball

ASU has run ruled 10 of their last 11 games. Competition has not been great but it still ain't to bad.

fixed it for you. Belles do have some issues that need fixing. They still have to play five really good LSC teams.

WT had another major meltdown this weekend against Western New Mexico. Our winning pitcher gave up 8 hits and 10 runs in 2.2 innings. None of her runs were earned. Thankfully we were able to outscore them, and hold on to win 17-14 (yes, this is softball). The other games went well. WNM is now 1-24.

Undisciplined in the field is what I'd call it. Right now, I'd say the Lady Buff softball team wins 40 plus, but gets kicked pretty good by ASU.

Great game in Canyon tonight between ASU and WT. ASU wins 4-3. WT had the bases loaded and had what was very close to a hit with 2 outs in the final inning, but the Rambelles made a nice defensive play.

WT was plagued by poor infield play once again. 5 errors including 3 by our 2nd baseman contributed to 4 unearned runs by Angelo.

Morgan Hill had a one-hitter going for 4-5 innings, but got got tired late in the game. She still got out of trouble when she needed to. Halbert also pitched well, giving up no earned runs.

Commerce ladies are on a roll. Won 9 straight now & run ruled 8 of those. Pitching has been really good. Combined score for those wins was 92-13, and one of the games they allowed 7 runs in a 13-7 win. Looking forward to seeing them play WT in a few weeks.

                    Re: OT-Softball

Lots of fun today in Commerce. Swept Kingsville - who has some surprisingly good pitching considering their record, in 3 very well-played games. First game of todays Double header Commerce was down 2 with 2 out in the bottom of the 7th. Mariah Jameyson hit a 2 run homer to tie and Brie Sims hit a solo shot on the very next pitch for the walkoff. In game 2, tied with 2 out in the bottom of the 7th, Mariah Jameyson hits a blast over the scoreboard for the walkoff. This team is starting to look pretty special. Great defense, great pitching (we have 4 pitchers who can ALL get it done), and we go 9 deep who can all hit the ball out of the park. I think we had 7 home runs in the 2 games today.

                      Re: OT-Softball

Thanks to the TexAnns winning 2 of 3 from Angelo this week, Commerce ladies are now in sole possession of first place in the LSC - 1 game ahead of WT and 2 clear of Angelo. If we can manage to win 2 of 3 from WT next week we will be in the drivers seat to host the tournament. Our freshman 3b Kimber Neal and sophmore ss Jodie Hill have been stellar on defense all season and have now both begun to really put it together at the plate, both for average and for power. Should be a fun end to the season with 3 at home vs WT next week, 3 away at WNMU, 3 at home vs Angelo, and finishing at TWU on the road.

Actually, you are 2 1/2 games ahead of WT. One game ahead in the loss column, but because of 3 cancelled games, you are 4 ahead in the win column. Not much way that will change. Looks like Commerce is a lock to host!

Commerce soph SS Jodie Hill wins her first LSC hitter of the week award. 3 different Lady Lions have taken home 7 of the nine weekly Conference batting awards this season.

Commerce is playing really well. It will be interesting to see how it goes against WT & Angelo. Throw in TWU and Commerce has 3 tough series left, luckily for the Lionesses 2 of 3 are at home.

Im realistically hoping for 2 wins in each series at home. They are unbeaten here this year and these series will determine host for the conference championships, so there will be that little bit of extra motivation.
