I figure the schools like it because it makes it easier to fill schedules, cuts back on travel costs.

I feel the scheduling is a moot point anyways. The majority of these schools were already on the non-conference schedule so travel and scheduling while may be more consistent and planned, I don't think it removes much difficulty.

All I can say is that both our baseball and softball coach aren't huge fans. This format has you starting conference play from virtually week 1

And forget about basketball trips to Las Vegas or Florida. Or softball opening in premier tournaments in Tuscon or Vegas. No room on the schedule. Only AD's love this new conference.

Geographically speaking, the WBU Pioneers located down in Plainview would be a good rival for the WT Buffs as well as ENMU & UTPB. Currently they are just a mediocre NAIA program. Maybe in a couple or more years they could make the jump to Div II. However, Div III would be a more practical move for them. Don't know about the other two. The only Price College (a misnomer) I know about was a catholic HS located in NE Amarillo. Perhaps no longer in existence.
