  • Since 2000...

ASURAM2010 got me to thinking when he stated how Angelo State football had performed since 2000. How has other LSC teams did since 2000? I remember before 2000 back when SFA was in the Lone Star East Texas State owned them. Almost every year the Lions would pounce on the LumberJacks. Texas A&I / TAMUK was a force pre 2000 and some years afterward. So, I looked up some archived records and found how each school has played each other since 2000 whether in conference or not. Some surprises. Some not so much. Here is the list in the order of wins

    1. Midwestern 76-37 pct .672

    vs ASU 13-4
    vs ENM 17-3
    vs TSU 7-11
    vs TAMC 11-4
    vs TAMK 13-4
    vs UTPB 3-0
    vs WT 11-8
    vs WNM 4-0

    2. Tarleton 72-44 pct .621

Kinda surprised how lopsided the TSU vs ASU was and the dominance of MW against ENM, TAMK , and TAMC

I would never have guessed Tarleton was second on the list.

Tech, thanks for the research. Maybe THIS will open the eyes of the powers that be at Angelo. DEAD LAST except for the two newest additions to the LSC.

Glad my son was part of the "better" years of those 20 years.

I say SH!T or get off the pot.

A wise man once told me: "if you are not gonna throw everything at winning, it's time to shut it down".

        I concur!

Can I borrow this and send it down to our administration in Kingsville?

Very sobering, in a "I just puked" sort of way. This is disgusting for our program.

It is sad. I feel for ya. I am rooting like heck for TAMUK.....it just doesn't feel right.

As far as Angelo......I do not think there is much patience at the top. Like I said, if not at least 8-3, then its time for a complete overhaul. And those 3 losses better not be azz whoopins.

Let's hope both programs see significant progress this season.

Also want to add.......when I always say the "powers that be", I am referring to EVERYONE in a position to make a difference. That's "Daddy Warbucks" (as Techster calls them) and ALL the decision makers, leaders, donors, alum, etc....

As the old proverb goes "It takes a village to raise a child".

If you don't like something that is going on you CAN fight hard enough to change it, IF it really matters to you.

Disgusting is too nice of a word...

Looking at our head to head against someone like Midwestern kind of reminds me what one of our former radio guys said back when they joined the LSC. He said something along the lines that we are whopping them now, but wait a few years and they will be competitive. He also said that about Tarleton and WTAM as they either entered or were a few years into the the conference during the same time span. Little did we know that all three would dominate TAMUK the way they have especially from 2005 forward to present. The former broadcaster saw they were building the recruiting infrastructure and sure enough, it paid off. I mean I think many of Javelina fans and alums thought we were invincible and frankly this is one reason we are stuck in the rut we find ourselves today. The sort of thinking this down turn was a normal cycle which even the big boy league teams like UT, OU Sucks, Bama, LSU among many other have gone through. The thing is most of the big boy programs like the ones noted have adapted and moved forward and have gotten back on track while we look like lost sheep and have for the balance of the this decade. I think the comparison which fits us from the big boy league and kind of coincides with our period of mediocrity is Nebraska. Their fan base and administrations thought history would see them through while many in the college football world were telling them otherwise. Now look at how bad they've fallen and I really don't have a clue why some in the sports media have gone as far as ranking them a pre season top 25.

                    Just SMH....

Why not count just the past 5 seasons? That seems more accurate in projecting where teams are in their programs.

Can you do 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018? If so, thanks in advance. Also, are you counting just conference games?

Can you do 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018? If so, thanks in advance. Also, are you counting just conference games?
