  • Serious question: If Tarleton has already submitted notice to the LSC Commissioner that they intend to depart the league, and if Tarleton's move to Division 1 hinges upon its student referendum to increase its Athletic Fee, and if that referendum is voted down resulting in no additional funds to cover the cost of going to the WAC... does that mean Tarleton might become "homeless"?

    • Aren't they in the AG building a good 300 yards from the baseball field?

Not really. We could back out. In 2010 Boise State told the Mountain West they were gone and they stayed. Won't matter, the referendum will pass.

            Because the MWC let them.

Why wouldn't the LSC do the same? As for your other post, good luck recruiting.

                  • Imagine you are a freshman this year knowing those schools will blow you out and you still can't compete for championships.

It would mean 3 or 4 trips to Texas/New Mexico every year, in addition to he large trips they take (Vancouver to California). Trips like that add up very quickly.
Might it be possible to mitigate that somewhat by holding a festival type event at the Star in Frisco like they did at JerryWorld a few years back? Bring 3 or 4 gnac teams down and play 2 on Friday and 2 on Saturday. Could do the same in Washington at the Eastern Washington or Washington State, maybe even SafeCo in Seattle. Hell I'd make that trip.

Lots of imagination this evening on the board.

Ok, we'll do it your way.
You're 18 or 19. Last year you were a varsity QB and all the girls wanted you. The crowds loved you. You're walking into Kyle Field. The fans are louder than you've ever heard. They aren't here for you. They don't know or care about you. You look across the field. Where once you saw kids who would be on your highlight film you see only maroon clad monsters. They want one thing and one thing only. Make your trip here hell and to put you on their highlight film. Where once you could find solace in chasing a championship you don't even have that. Your team starts on offense. You can't even hear yourself think yet you must lead your team against these monsters of men. This team that wants to end you. Good luck, don't get hurt.

That was torn down last year.

That situation happens with schools at any level.
At D3, UMHB is a favorite to win the whole damn thing. People know this and they get some of the best D3 players. They go up against conference mates Louisiana College and proceed to thump them 80-7. Last year at the D2 level, Tarleton played WNMU and beat them 58-0. We played down a level vs Doane this year and dominated all game long.

NDSU and Montana do the same thing at the FCS level. Do you think that A&M shys away from Bama when they go into Tuscaloosa or that Ohio State isn't trying to make a highlight reel out of the Michigan game? Does Notre Dame have problems recruiting people because they can't win a conference title?

You play the team that is in front of you and you play for the guys behind you. Maybe the conference title doesnt happen, but you sell them on building something special and you honor them with a unique opportunity - the class that guided Tarleton to Division 1.

Ok, look. I know that happens. He wanted something imaginative. Considering I've been up since before the sun I wasn't putting much thought into, well anything more complicated than a microwave meal and tv. I did my best and if that's not good enough, well let's read your story.

??????No, Notre Dame doesn't have any issues recruiting. That said they're also an instantly recognizable program with a proud history that no Indies at any level can match.
