Well it appears he would've had a job had he not resigned on his own accord. I dont understand that line of thinking but I guess I dont have to

I know his girlfriend had surgery a couple months ago for a non-cancerous brain tumor. However, I wouldn't be surprised if he was given the chance to resign (or else).

Be sure he does not hire former Mesa OC Jon Boyer, who got canned today at Northern Colorado. I doubt he would, knowing personalities, but you never know...

Did he resign or re-sign? Big difference.

Knowing the philosophy of Hughes and McBroom with running the ball. I believe they are going to go all out on who they bring in for the new OC. Don't be surprised if the person they bring in will be the highest paid OC in Div II ! knowing that they are going to after a big name for sure ! After looking at the the Div II leaders .. I think they will try to contact these guys.

                Targets Maybe
                Joe Beschorner: Minnesota State
                Chris Fisk: Central Washington

                Wildcard Picks
Nick Fulton: CO School of Mines ( top 25 in all 3 categories! but Looks more spread. Hughes coached against him may have some relation but scheme wise does it fit AD and HC vision)
Steve Casula Ferris St (Balance attack but spread)
Mike McCarty Why not just steal the whole staff lol

                Dream Picks
Art Briles maybe not ethically but the man is a genius offensively
Lane Kiffin Ok maybe I'm dreaming way to much

                Do Over picks
Lee Hays At WT he was lethal but again doesn't fit scheme
Stephen Lee I believe he had a pretty balance attack while he was there Or maybe Khiry Robinson made it look like it was balanced

I think those are two serious contenders. You throw in the uncertainty surrounding the GNAC, Fisk may come, especially when we throw a lot more money and I'm assuming cheaper cost of living at him.

Hughes wants under center, zone scheme, play action passing that relies on solid oline play and high percentage passing from the qb.

IMHO WT is built for this with what they already have in house they just need the coordinator and qb to run it.
I have fat thumbs sorry for typos!

Can't afford Hays, and like you said, doesn't fit scheme.

Maybe it's just me, but I was never a Stephen Lee fan. Plus, he's got a pretty sweet gig at UMHB right now.

Re: McDonough Resigns as WT Offensive Coordinator!

Mike McCarty - He has the perfect QB in place for his offense for the next 3 years in Gunnar Lamphere and returns a majority of the offense. Doubt he leaves after just a year in Pueblo, especially for another coordinator position.

Nick Fulton - Not the style Hughes has recruited for, would almost be starting over on that side of the ball as far as personnel is concerned.

If the Kingsville job opened up, I could have seen Wilkerson end up at WT.

Not sure what you mean? He is coaching HS ball at Lubbock Cooper.

I think if Minnesota State performs well against CSU Pueblo I think coach Joe Beschorner will get a phone call after the season to see if he is interested.

He is currently getting paid 51 K
Coach McDonough started out at 50

They will have to pitch at least 65 K
