  • Where We Stand & Eligibility

There are five LSC teams participating in football this spring (ENM, WNM, Kingsville, MSU, UTPB). MSU has added Tarleton State to their spring schedule as well for a total of 5 games. I haven't seen a schedule for the other teams, but I assume they will be at either 4 or 5 games each.

Angelo State played 4 games this fall, and West TX played a more traditional fall schedule (8 games).

Commerce is sitting the season out (fall & spring).

If I am reading it correctly, a year of eligibility will NOT be used if the team played no more than 50% of their normal schedule during the 2020-2021 school year. See here: http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/...relief-2020-21

Thus, each participating player for West TX will burn a year, but no other LSC player will lose a year.

Is this correct? Did I leave anything out? I haven't really been plugged in this year regarding D2 football once they cancelled the season. So any more info would be appreciated!

Incorrect, it was changed to no eligibility will be lost this season regardless of games played. Which is why WT expanded to the 8 games.

However, the eligibility clock still counts for the 5 years to play 4. So WT will lose a couple of the older redshirt seniors, I'm sure other schools will as well.

Fall sports can complete a full schedule and retain eligibility. Winter sports (as of now) has the 50% cap to retain eligibility.
