      I wasn't talking about Heupel.

One thing he did not do was inherit a great QB situation at OU. Josh Heupel was this guy from a JUCO nobody had heard of that had a very average arm and turned him into a Sooner great and National Champion.

Not quite sure about the Tubberville comment. Leach is a winner. The point is, Tech took a gamble on two OCs with no HC experience. One was a hit, one not so much.

Wells is every bit as much a gamble. Very mediocre overall record in G5. Then again, programs like Tech typically have to roll the dice on their coaches. You occasionally happen onto a Beard or Leach and hope you can keep them around.

Premier??? Maybe not. But definitely not bottom rung as you believe.

never said it was bottom of the rung. Of the P5 jobs, it is in the lower tier for sure. Otherwise they wouldn't be hiring a .564 G5 coach.
