Wife and I are driving to Gunnison for the game.
I've been to a few practices. This is a different team than last year. Very talented. A lot of new faces. The question is how long it will take them to put it together. They don't have much time. For instance the former Michigan WR and Kennesaw RB just got to Canyon in the last week. They looked good (WR, a former Mater Dei, CA HS 4 start was real good). But, are they ready with the scheme? Same for a lot of the transfers.
I'll go out on a limb and predict our new OC, Justing Bane, will bring some of the (Carthel-like) excitement back to the offense. My questions revolve around the defense. From the limited time I've watched the team in practice; is the offense so good that the D (and most D's we'll face) is not bad? or is the O not as good as my eyes see it as and the D is just bad?
We'll start to get some answers tomorrow night. It'll certainly be interesting.

I believe you'll be happily surprised with WT's new QB, RJ Martinez.Originally posted by Rockofwesties View PostNo surprise here, wish he was still at WT. The high today in midland is 93 degrees and in Amarillo the high today is 76 degrees. I’d rather play football in the panhandle.

Agreed. WT doesn't play Mesa for now. Non issue.Originally posted by WT_TKW View Post
This is old news.
The only thing nightmarish about Hughes was the job he did as head coach. He might be a good assistant. Does anyone know why he left Idaho? This is likely a pay cut.

Moose is still in preseason form, his smack talk is not up to his talent level yet.Originally posted by BuffaloChip View Post

My experience is that most WT alums are just a bunch of talkers. They act like they are big boosters but want free tickets to everything.

It was a tongue in cheek reference to the movie Pulp Fiction and attitude of the Jules character. Not donations.Originally posted by MooseLodge View Post

WT alumni wallets say the same thing as Samuel L Jackson’s (Jules Winfield) wallet.
