Wt. has a position "Assistant Athletic Director for Leadership & Personal Development."
I had lunch with Kimberly Dudley, who has that position. Dudley was the women's Cross Country coach for 20 years.
This program is a leadership and mentoring program for our student-athletes.
There is significant progress being made with our student-athletes as they progress toward the goal of graduation.
IMHO this contributes to the feeling of "family" that is part of the culture at Wt. It also contributes
to our retention of athletes. I also discovered she part of the process of bringing new coaches to Wt.
This program is the result of the progressive thinking of our AD Mike McBroom.

The future is bright for Athletics at WTAMU.
It's a good time to be a Buffalo.

This is in majority of universities across the country for many years now. The position is called various names....here are just a few:
Associate Athletics Director, Student-Athlete Development; Assistant Athletic Director, Student- Development; Director Student Athlete Leadership & Development; Athletic Development & Leadership Coordinator.....etc. etc.... Some universities just call it "Assistant Athletics" and assign those duties to an administrative employee.

Glad to see WT has add this position. It is helpful.

Was going to say, this has basically been a standard at Pueblo since the program started back up in 2008.

The new WT position is more bureaucratic bloat that increases the cost of an education and the cost of athletics. You could do away with half of the administrative types in universities, maybe way more, and still run a good university. Universities have become bureaucratic webs worse than governments. And people wonder why educational costs have skyrocketed. This is one reason.
