  • Valdosta hires Colorado-Mesa head Tremaine Jackson

The same Tremaine Jackson that was passed over for Hunter Hughes during the 2016 WT coaching search?

Some rumblings of a move up at Valdosta. They would fit well in the southland conference.

I didn't know the Valdosta State head coach had departed. He's moving on up.

This was taken from the second link:

"The WT football program has been shaky recently under the 11th-year athletic director. McBroom has fired two head coaches - Don Carthel and Mike Nesbitt - in a span of 39 months, along with experiencing dwindling home attendance."

It's not a lot different 5 years later, except that now we play NAIA teams.

For a starter conference yes but geographically wise I would think Southern or Big South would be a better fit.

Yep and a brand new smaller stadium on campus that still struggles to fill. Maybe if Angelo State and Central Washington move to D1 they can make the playoffs. ;)

CWU can't afford it. This has been discussed ad nauseum on the GNAC board over the years. They'd have to more than double their athletic budget.

If Valdosta had a 5,000 seating stadium, we would be hard pressed to fill it.
