  • WTAMU - "GOOD OL DAYS" - WHAT? WHEN?

So, I just took a quick glance at the good ol days of WT football, but didn't find any. Started in 1940's and looked at every 5 year mark. The best record prior to Carthel was 8-3. Other than 5 out of 8 seasons under Carthel, WT was never a juggernaut team. Ever!

So, I guess I am confused about all this "Good ol days" talk. And restoring the team to the good ol yesteryear.

Maybe I am mistaken. If so, where and when?

WT has never been a 10-11 win program. But that needs some context. In their D1 days, WT was a typical mid major, playing a couple of money games each year that they had no realistic chance of winning. Florida, Baylor, etc. Toss in another loss, you’re 8-2 or 8-3 best case.

Due to the need to play money games, 7-8 regular season wins for a FCS program is solid.

WT has had ups and downs, with the downs usually, though not always, caused by cost cutting and/or mismanagement by WT administration.

That trend dates to the 1940s.

        Depends who you talk too.

"Younger" fans like myself see 2005-2013 as the good ol days.
