  • UTPB FALCON FREE TUITION & FEES = RECRUITING GOLD

Maybe I am new to the game because I had no idea this existed.

    https://www.yourbasin.com/news/local...-free-program/

This should be GOLD for recruiting. All players whose parents earn under $100k can get FREE tuition & fees. My goodness, UTPB should be out recruiting everyone!!!

If they fund 25-36 schollies, they could basically offer full rides to every key player they want!! Not sure if they are doing this.

Also, not sure if A&M schools have the same type program. Again, this is new to me.Maybe I am new to the game because I had no idea this existed.

I know they had a MASSIVE recruiting class this year. And they got some serious ballers and playmakers. I personally know or know of about 10-11 of these players. If they have decent coaching, they WILL be a top team very soon!! In my opinion, they had the best recruiting class in '23.

Maybe this Falcom Free Program is how they did it.

Sounds like the same type of folks and tactics used for Odessa Permian in the 80s.

I will have it read through it entirely this weekend to see what the "catch" is.

There was a short thread on this program at WT last year.

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas A&M University System’s Board of Regents will not increase tuition for Fall 2022, Chairman of the Board Tim Leach said today. “The Board is very focused on making a college education affordable for all Texans and pledges to make accessibility and fairness our highest priority,”

Yeah I figured it was legit. I like to take shots at how things were done down in the Permian Basin in the past. ;)

Basically, this is a state mandated program that state universities are legally required to implement. Paying students subsidize financial aid programs that the state was no longer willing to do.

Students have to fill out a FAFSA, and the promise programs pay tuition and fees not covered in federal and state financial aid. It does not include room and board or books.

The "promise programs" leave out the fact that it is primarily paid by other students as part of the designated tuition (universities must set aside a minimum of %15 of designated tuition above $46/hour). Designated tuition amounts vary by institution as do the qualifying income limits.

Based on information from the attached link, this will cost paying students at LSC schools approximately
                        ASU - 411
                        MSU - 438
                        UTPB - 554
                        WTAM - 500
                        TAMK - 305
                        SRU - 584

                        Non football schools
                        TWU - 621
                        UTT - 621
                        TAMI - 284

If it works the way it seems to work, it should make them a national powerhouse. I personally would love to see atleast one school from the UT system making it to a title game regardless of division.

As Turbonium said, socialism is alive and well in the State of Texas!
