Students have to fill out a FAFSA, and the promise programs pay tuition and fees not covered in federal and state financial aid. It does not include room and board or books.

The "promise programs" leave out the fact that it is primarily paid by other students as part of the designated tuition (universities must set aside a minimum of %15 of designated tuition above $46/hour). Designated tuition amounts vary by institution as do the qualifying income limits.

Based on information from the attached link, this will cost paying students at LSC schools approximately
      ASU - 411
      MSU - 438
      UTPB - 554
      WTAM - 500
      TAMK - 305
      SRU - 584

      Non football schools
      TWU - 621
      UTT - 621
      TAMI - 284
UT's is different from what Aggieland schools offer.

"Texas A&M University sysyems has provided tuition support since 2008, by pledging tuition coverage to low- and middle-income families through the Aggie Assurance commitment. For students whose family income is $60,000 or less, tuition will be covered by grants and/or scholarships."

Still great to have, but not the same as UTPB's $100k AGI. That's 85% of the population or more!! HUGE advantage to UTPB.

For sure. They used to help kids pass Spanish classes and give them free tickets to events is what I heard.

For nearly 100 years, Texas A&M University-Kingsville has provided educational access and opportunity to generations of students. Javelina Promise is...

All public universities in Texas do if they have designated tuition rates above $46/hour.

The reason some schools have a higher income threshold is primarily because their designated tuition is higher than other schools as well as the economic demographics of their students. Below is an estimate of annual cost to paying students and the income threshold for the school programs.

                        TAMK - 305 - $65K
                        ASU - 411 - $70K
                        MSU - 438 - $65K
                        WTAM - 500 - $80K
                        UTPB - 554 - $100K
                        SRU - 584 - Can't find information

                          It opened this time. Thanks!!

I was so unaware of these programs.

But, STILL, UTPB $100k AGI is unbelievable! Like I said, that going to be almost every football player.

Every New Mexico kid at New Mexico Schools gets free tuition. Hope scholarship. More socialism.

On the surface, that looks like a better program - I don't see an income limit to participate, therefore putting all of the participating schools on an even level.
