Tuition at public schools is too high. It’s supposed to be affordable.

Honestly if you aren't an athlete not able to get any type of scholarships then getting a certification in an in demand field might be the way to go.

I am going to tell my kids to go for that dual diploma/associates degree while in high school but may look to other avenues if the cost of tuition adds up to be more than the price of my house by the time they graduate in the late 2020s.

          EVERY kid? Regardless of income?

          Are fees covered as well?

Not sure about police, but the military is 100% socialism. Free clothing, medical, food, housing, training, and they tell you where to go and what to do. When to eat, sleep, sh!t, etc... On top of that, you can not quit! And if you walk away, you can be jailed for desertion.

Being a police officer is NOT the same.

There are major disputes over what is considered socialism and capitalism. I do not desire to take part in yet ANOTHER useless political debate.

Police and fire departments are publicly funded, and controlled by governments, so like highways and lots of other infrastructure, they are socialist by definition. No value judgement from me, either way. Just the facts at hand.

They are socialized in their funding. I'm not speaking to the Faux News usage of socialism, but simply what it means. Tax dollars fund them.

The police generate no revenue, there's no argument whether they are socialized or capitalists.

                          Point taken..
While I would be highly entertained by the mental gymnastics it would take to dispute that, I won't ask for it here.

Yes, publicly funded. That does not mean socialism.

                            But, I get your point.

Great! I had enough of philosophical debates in grad school.

Tickets? Arrests? Bails, fines, penalties? Yeah, PLENTY of revenue. Not to mention seizures and asset forfeiture. Which is a HUGE business, albeit abused.
