BTW, did the RB ever find a new school?
Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here, and drink whatever comes out?"

For the record I agree with your take.

I see this on several other message boards.

Even the FCS schools are pissed that the power 5 schools are now coming for their star players when 10 years ago the FCS schools were waiting like vultures to pluck up any unhappy kids that werent getting the playing time.

In all scenarios past, present, and future the D1 school is going to win out for kids that are going to start and like all past scenarios everyone else gets the borderline 2nd stringers and below from the scrap heap.

Back on topic. My legitimate question is will this kid be good enough to start for WV or will be just in a rotation and just proud to say he suited up for a power 5 school?

At 6'4 230lb he WILL see the field. Will he be WR1 or WR2,not sure. Maybe not. Will he play, FOR SURE!

Honestly, I do not know what WVU has. So my comment is all speculation based on this young man's talent displayed in the LSC.

Noah has already played in the FBS, not Power 5 like WVU, but still FBS football at Bowling Green.

He has done well and developed over the last few years at ASU.

Again, while I hate to see them go, I cannot begrudge them leveraging their talents to try to move up, just like a coach would do. They owe it to themselves to see how high they can fly.

            It's official now: https://wvusports.com/news/2023/5/24/football-announces-wide-receiver-addition.aspx

              I completely get it.

When you are fans of the larger power 5 schools you rarely have to worry about elite impact starters leaving.

Small school fans have to get used to only seeing a decent/elite player for one year.

I think the portal a real problem for schools like ENMU. the schools that have a formula winning. ENMU is to recruit high school NM/West Texas kids redshirt them (play with 4-5 year seniors) and sprinkle in some studs. i.e. Kamal cass/Paul terry. those studs are key to there success. now those kids will be gone after good year. I think its going really tough for these programs that don't have the dollars, facilities or town to recruit to. it will be next to impossible to build a program.

As a KU hoops fan, I strongly disagree with that first part. It's full blown free agency at that level. If the other teams can't lure them, the NBA can..

That redshirt core has been the formula for long term success in D2 forever.

Now those kids hit the portal with nothing but practice tape to show.

It is all about NIL There is now a bidding war for top athletes in FBS. Players will go where a school can project the most NIL money. A lot of schools like UT, TT and others are projecting $25,000 for every player on the roster.

How dare players be allowed to go where the free market dictates, insanity!

Especially in a country that embraces socialism and despises capitalism.

I say the NCAA institutions should come up with a contract that binds a kid to the school that they agree to go to. The same way you enter a contract for services to be rendered. The contract is binding for both parties with a very few exceptions, like a coaching change where a kid is released from his/her contract. A coach can't get rid of a kid and a kid is bound to the school. I would go back to the one year sit out rule if a kid wants out of the contract. Like a non-compete clause. Coaches will be much more circumspect when they recruit a kid. Recruits better be sure when they agree to the contract. Just like buying a car.

Kids coming out of high school should be prepared to live up to their contract. Coaches, too. Kids can still get their NIL money. Free market still exists for kids before they commit to a school. Say you're being recruited by Texas and Texas A&M, you can negotiate NIL from each school's supporters. Salary, bonuses, performance bonuses, etc etc. It'll all be negotiated and signed up before they sign their college contract. Once signed to a school, it's binding to both parties. The rules are all up front.

The No 1 HS QB in the country will still make his millions. But once he signs with LSU he is under contract for the life of his college playing career. And LSU can't get rid of him. If he doesn't like it at LSU, tough sh!t. Don't sign the contract. Or sit out a year and go play elsewhere. As per the contract.
