  • He must not have been thrilled with the new UTPB coach.

I wish him well though, I'm sorry he left WT but Lynn played Sean at QB for too many games and too many picks. Even Sul Ross was a challenge with Sean at QB.

    • Wow I missed this. I thought Gibson stated in the winter that He was staying at UTPB. The new coaching philosophy and drop off in talent turnover must have made him jump. Good luck to him.

        He did say that.

        • UTPB is going to look very different. I actually think they will be coached much better, but the talent level is way down and we know its not about the Xs and O's its about the Jimmy and Joes

          • CWU's defense just received a big blow as starting standout LB Brett McCalla has entered the spring portal, the second starting LB they are losing to the portal. He had 177 tackles, 16.5 TFL and 3 INTs over 4 seasons, mostly 2 seasons though. With a medical redshirt he still has one more year to go. He is definitely an FCS talent and he was someone I was hoping we would not lose to the portal

WT Fans felt this statement to the bones but all of it has collapsed since the mid 2010s.

              • WOU picked up a fine QB in Brooks Ferguson, 6-4/240 from Portland State. Yes, he is coach Arne Ferguson's son. Great prep player, PSU moved him to tight end, listed as a QB at WOU. I always hoped he'd end up playing for his dad.

"coached much better" would be incredible. The last 3 years were a MASSIVE improvement of coaching than the Carrigan days. So if it gets better after finishing top 4 in the country, than UTPB should get the trophy room ready! From what I have seen, the talent is back to the Carrigan days. We will see what this TAPPS High school coach can do!

Its odd to me how talent, philosophy, and possible NIL would have such a huge drop off after Kris left the program in seemingly good shape name wise after last year.

Even when WT was circling the drain, it took a couple of years for the talent and coaching to crater but "back then" NIL wasnt a thing "legally".

100%. And that's why WTAMU suffered a slow death.

                          So WT is dead?

Yes, UTPB will be coached better by a high school coach a year after the previous staff took UTPB to the school's first ever D2 elite 8 appearance. lmfao.

Come on. We all want UTPB to succeed, but we have to be real.

Bingo. UTPB was left with a good roster after the departure of the previous staff. A roster you could sleepwalk into 6 wins.

                              WT isn't dead.

WT has endless potential for the right person. I will die on this hill.

Really good player. Congrats to him.
